Writing Meme: First Line Patterns
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (or however many you have) posted fics and see if there's a pattern!
I was tagged by @omgfloofy, @mathclasswarfare, and @avianscribe—I think that’s it!
Here we go:
“This late on a Tuesday night, the Wayne Enterprises parking garage should be all but empty.” [For Some Desperate Glory, Batman fic, 1/12 chapters] “Prompto hates the back seat.” [Departure, FFXV, oneshot] “From Ignis’s carefully selected seat on the couch, he has a perfect view of the moment when Noct’s bedroom door finally opens and Gladio slips out into the hallway.” [Aftermath, FFXV, oneshot (remix)] “Insomnia burns down below.” [under starless skies (we are lost), FFXV, 4/4 chapters] “It’s technically not breaking in if Ignis gave Prompto both the spare key and explicit permission to stop by, but it still feels like it might be a tiny bit illegal considering how sleek the apartment building looks from the outside and how not-dressed-up Prompto is right now.” [Permission, FFXV, oneshot (remix)] “It’s easy to spot Noctis in his silvery jacket, dark blue jeans, and black baseball cap, not that Noctis stands out too much in the late morning crowd.” [Confession, FFXV, oneshot] “The furniture store is one of the few places in this section of Insomnia that’s relatively intact.” [Respite, FFXV, oneshot] “Prompto is pretty damn sure his lap isn’t all that comfortable, but he’s tried twice to insist that Ignis would probably feel better if he had a proper pillow and Ignis had insisted he wouldn’t.” [Whisper, FFXV, oneshot] “Ignis knows they have arrived when Gentiana—Shiva—opens her eyes.” [What Fades Away, FFXV, 4/4 chapters] “The first minutes of sunrise cast the canyon in a red light and dark shadows.” [Naught in Return, FFXV, oneshot]
….apparently my pattern is that I need the reader to know the physical location/position we’re starting off with, even if it’s just implied. Which is—interesting? Huh. This is not a thing I would have identified as typical of my writing.
Tagging @ghost-bxrd, @gwynne-fics, @crazyloststar, and anyone else who is interested. :)

Chapter 2: Hope?
Now what? No one was listening to a word that I was saying… Well I knew my worth now at least. Just fifty dollars. Those kids seemed happy. The cost, I suppose made sense. The PEt was most likely damaged. Also they took the first offer that they were given… At least I was out of that disaster area. The place was pretty unstable. Something may have given out and actually crushed the PET. Out of the ruins of a building and onto a countertop. Then again now that I was out of there he wouldn't be able to find me. Just perfect. Out of the frying pan and into the freezer really. With how things are going I'll end up in the fire with someone promoting Darkloid. Plus this guy wasn't reconsidering his decision of not helping me. Didn't even bother hearing me out. All I got was a sharp glare and a quick shut up or be quiet. Apparently he wasn't having a very good day. Honestly I hoped that was it. Because if he was naturally like that I would be in trouble. No chance at seeing Enzan ever again.
Maybe I could convince someone walking into this junk store to send a message for me. That would be my best bet. The man sat down at the counter. The clacking of a keyboard was the only sound besides the ticking of a cheap clock. An antique that I was a little surprised at its working condition. I took a quick look around from my limited view. Things from new to ancient were displayed on shelves and tables. The more supposeably expensive things sat in glass cases. The place looked like it hadn't been dusted in a while. The limited view I had was rather bothersome since I couldn't get a look outside. Though I knew that it would make no difference if I knew where I was or not I still wanted some idea. My gaze traveled to the man. I studied him since I hadn't bothered to before. Why not know the face of the person I was stuck with until who knew when?
He looked rather old. Didn't seem like a very friendly person by the look of it but then again I may just be connecting his look to the first experience I had with him. His hair was an old mixture of white and gray and he was balding at the top. What hair he had was messy to say the very least. It look like he hadn't even bothered with it in a long while. Few days to a week maybe. The bags under his dark eyes and the way his stiff hands made a shape as he hunched over in his chair gave away to the sleepless nights and stress. His dull eyes flicked to me as I shifted my position to sitting crosslegged like I had in the darkness of those unstable ruins. He didn't appear to be glaring at me in that short moment in time so maybe he wasn't so bad.
There I stayed for the next two hours. Just watching the stranger go about his business in a very lazy almost scatterbrained fashion. Then the door open and someone walked in.
"Hi, Ignis." Came the voice of a child.
"Hey kid. Your dad sending you on his errands again?" He asked as the child came into view.
He was a small brunette and he smiled happily like he hadn't a care in the world. The shirt he wore held the picture of what I assumed was a popular cartoon character saying some catchphrase that most kids would be thrilled to say and hear. His jeans had a few holes in them but they seemed very old in his defense. The shirt however looked much newer so it was an interesting pairing.
"Yeah. Here's the money for what he ordered." The child offered a decent sum of cash and the man I now identified as Ignis took it.
"Just wait here and I'll get the parts for you." He smiled.
Maybe he really wasn't that bad. I watched him enter the back room with the child. The child looked around the shop with little interest as he waited, rocking back and forth from his heels to his toes. I stood.
"Excuse me."
The kid quickly caught sight of me. He seemed a little surprised. His interest quickly drawn he approached. He gave me a perplexed look.
"I didn't know Ignis sold Navi's." He eyed me curiously.
I couldn't give him an answer for that so I just cast the statement to the side.
"I was wondering if you-"
The door opened and he quit listening. Ignis walked out with a little box in his hands. Setting it on the counter he pulled out a roll of packing tape and sealed it up.
"PET catch your attention did it?" He asked handing the kid the box.
"When did you start selling PETs?"
"Technically just a couple of hours ago or so. A pair walked in with saying it was abandoned."
"Someone abandoned it?" The kid frowned sadly. "Why would someone do that?"
"I wouldn't know kiddo. Now get going before your dad starts to wonder where you are."
"... How much are you selling it for?"
"Actually I was thinking of taking it apart."
What? I take it back. Not a nice person.
"What?!" The kid looked horrified. "You can't do that!"
"It's damaged anyway Claus. No point in trying to sell it." Ignis attempted to reason but Claus wouldn't have it.
"No you're wrong. I'll buy it."
"Do you even have any money kid?" He looked sceptical.
"Well no, but I can make some. How much will you sell it for?"
"Oh I don't know… If you can make fifty dollars by the end of the week I'll give it to you."
"Ok!" The kid smiled but soon lost it. "Wait… what are you going to do with it at the end of the week?"
"Kid I have things that need part to be fixed and there are a few things in these PETs that I can use. Remember that little machine in the back? If I wipe the main chip I can fix it. Then-"
"That isn't fair. You can't just kill harmless things for your own benefit."
"Its a program kid."
"He's not an it. How would you feel in his position?"
"It doesn't have feelings-"
"Does to." Claus argued.
Ignis sighed. "Just go."
"I want a full week." He pressed.
"Fine." He reluctantly agreed.
Claus walked out with a triumphant skip in his step. Ignis eyed me. I said nothing and after a minute he went about his business once again.

𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐎, Prompto's voice wouldn't have been heard by the King since he wouldn't have been in the room, getting changed. Noctis also wasn't there to be aware of the panic his fiance was experiencing. As a result of a supply chain miscommunication, Prompto was trying to fix things himself. In light of Ignis' organization, he would've been wiser to contact him. In spite of this, when the blonde learned of the mishap in the early hours of the morning, he took it upon himself to fix it, save the day, and walk down the aisle with his beloved. Noctis.
"No, no no no no NO! What d'ya mean they got sent to the wrong place?? HellOOOO wedding of the year --!?!??" Prompto paces frantically, the shirt of his suit on, still in jeans and matched with smart shoes to complete the look -- he hardly looked like he was about to walk into his own ceremony. It wouldn't be like the sharpshooter to lose his temper, snap, or scream at anyone -- certainly not someone relaying information to them -- but Prompto was a little more than just antsy.
Tumblr media
"If they're not there, then it's going to look bad for the press, and -- and -- aw, man, everyone!! everyone is gonna notice! - who wanted press anyway? I coulda just been the press, set up the camera on a timer y'know - easy, everything else out of shot who even needsa'--" The gunslinger paced back and forth. After ruining his stylist's prestyling, he raked his hand in the direction of the roots.
The widening of his eyes and the constant fidgeting and movement of his lips made it clear he was uncomfortable. On his wedding day, unspoken judgement is more than likely directed at him for being panicked. "Look, uh...." he pauses, swallowing down the guilt "I'm kiiiinda freaking out --- n-not cause I don't wanna marry him, I do! I Just...." a defeated sigh. " Wanted this all to be perfect, I wanted to help make this the best day... for the first day of our lives together... and now I .... " His exasperation led him to notice his watch. "Wait -- ?? Is that the time??? Shit!! NOCT!!!! "
𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄-𝐀𝐃𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 his tie? This will make the seventh… He thought, glancing in the mirror and feeling entirely not like himself. His hair kept standing up in places it shouldn’t be standing up – which was entirely normal, but for this particular day he wished it would just behave. The nerves were beginning to settle in the pit of his stomach, although they’d been threatening the entire week leading up to this. Normally; he’d have Prompto here to calm him down, to tell him to breathe. Just relax dude! He could hear his tone clear as day in his mind; eyes closing as he let himself pretend for just a second that he was in the room with him.
What are you so nervous about? Question posed from his own head, yet in Prompto’s voice. What was he so nervous about? It definitely wasn’t him. It wasn’t about tying himself to Prompto; no, that he was happy about. Was it normal? Everyone kept telling him it was.
It’s normal to feel nervous! It’s normal to have cold feet.
No, his feet were toasty warm. That wasn’t it. He didn’t know, he couldn’t pin-point it. It’s fine, Noct. He’s going to be there… you’ll see him soon enough. Was that it? The fact he wasn’t there, in the room with him right at that moment? His gaze moved to the door, an itch forming in his chest. It felt wrong somehow that he wasn’t here. Granted, he knew of tradition; you can’t see each other before the wedding. He knew that. No… I want to see him. Or at the very least hear his voice.
Besides, the two of them weren’t exactly sticklers for tradition, were they? Noctis didn’t put much stock in the old tales of bad luck either. You made your own luck, hell; Prompto had taught him that one. So why did it matter if they saw each other before or not? He’d opened the door to his room before he’d thought much more on it, wandering down the many corridors and hallways before he eventually got to Prompto’s room. His hand hesitating for a moment; a brief flicker in his mind of – is bad luck real? But before that thought had truly settled, he was knocking.
Tumblr media
❝ Hey, Prom? ❞ He spoke a second after he’d knocked, ❝ You don’t have to open the door… ❞ His intention was clear; Noctis just wanted to hear his voice.

FFXV AU: World of Wonder
Me: Okay, time to wrap everything up. Playlist: How about this OST? Sounds good for writing? Me: Me: damn you.
——
“You know, we could-“
“No, Luna, we are not eating bloody snails.”
“So starvation would be much more preferable to you?”
“Yes.”
“Guys. You know there’s like…vegetables? Or fruits? Those are nice too?” Prompto interrupts as their guest, a cheerful black chocobo nuzzles her photographer. The blond happily returning her affections as their own chocobos joins in. Until the black bird gets distracted by Ignis and bounces after the young retainer. Gladio though, makes no move to help his ambushed companion. The Shield relaxing in his chair and reads his novel in peace, patting the innocent, black chocobo egg in his lap idly. An escort mission for an egg and a chocobo is certainly a first for the Amicitia but well, they have taken on weirder requests, this one is easy enough.
“Prom. Please. I’m trying to make a point here. And both of you are scaring the fishes! Stop it!” Noctis hisses at Pryna and Umbra splashing around the water of the Vesperpool. The late afternoon sunlight warm but comfortable. The songs of birds and sounds of wildlife fill the air, and for awhile, it seems like Eos is at peace. No war or conflicts, Starscourge or prophecies, just friends out on an adventure.
Like a rebel, Umbra barks, slapping down a paw and splashes even harder, goading Pryna. Luna and Prompto breaks into laughter as Noctis yells helplessly at the dogs. Pryna huffs and splashes at the Lucian prince, which ticks him off as he jumps into the somewhat shallow water to chase after the messengers. Until the water hits Luna entirely, soaking her blue sleeveless tunic and jeans, earning them a surprised shriek from Luna as the birds scuttle off. The Tenebraen princess gives Noctis a dry look.
“Well then, I’m afraid the marriage is off. I suppose I will be telling King Regis that I will be marrying Prompto now.” Luna huffs, pulling Prompto over by his arm. Prompto makes a soft ‘eap!’.
“Cool. I call dibs at the main table, thanks. Just be sure my appetiser has no greens.” Noctis gives a thumbs up with a smirk.
“Will you both stop with the wedding jokes?!? And at my expense? Really? Even you, Lu?” the blond gunner cries at his ridiculous friends.
“Eh. Might as well you know? Gotta milk the wedding of the century for all its worth.” Noctis shrugs. In a moment of mischief, he suddenly flicks water at his best friend’s face, drenching his meticulously styled hair. Prompto screeches and lunges for the prince with a yell, even though Noctis warps away without breaking a sweat. Luna joins in with glee, tackling the boys into the water with the boisterous dogs. The chocobos chirping in excitement by the water’s edge.
“I guess dinner is going to be late.” Gladio thumbs a page without a glance at the younger trio playing in the water. Though not before pulling out a can of Ebony for his friend still in the midst of avoiding his new admirer.
“I would certainly rather it be late than to resort to another night of instant noodles. So I beseech you to cease that line of thought, Gladio.” Ignis rolls his eyes, before pushing a curious beak wanting to preen his hair away from him. The advisor makes a tired tsk at the overly happy bird, and reluctantly gives up in favour of having his much needed caffeine.
“Come on Ig-”
C R A C K!
Ignis and Gladio freezes as they peer down slowly at the loud source of the noise. The black chocobo trilling away happily beside them in her joy. Tiny bits of shell drops as a fuzzy black blob of feathers peeks out.
“Kweh?” The dark feathered chick blinks cutely back at the young retainers.
“Welp. Now what do we do?”
“Egg-cellent question. For once, I have no answers for you my friend.” Gladio groans and buries his face into his hand at that.
The sun continues to shine brightly upon them, they have all the time in the world for now.

Home
I had the sudden urge to try and write some hurt/comfort TLC with our A/B/O chocobros.  An impulsive bit of writing that probably needs some editing but it fulfilled my itch! SFW, maybe 2 lines of mild suggestiveness. Just some snuggles and love.
You had dreamt about home. You had woken with an odd mix of guilt and sadness that had eventually dissipated and left you feeling muted and distant. You were aware you were bringing up the idea of getting home less often, and thinking about it even less so and whether by design or by accident your pack were also rather quiet on the subject. The fact that you had started internally thinking of them as your pack added another burst of guilt to your already fraught emotions. You knew the sadness was there, but you couldn’t feel it, couldn’t feel much of anything that morning except a hazy cloud of brooding disinterest. Of course the boys had noticed immediately, the lack of privacy for your own feelings souring your mood further and after your fifth snapped response to their pestering they had quietly backed off. The day had passed in a majority of uncomfortable silence, you being dragged along with one alpha or another as they finished up whatever business they had in town.
You were all now sat in the diner around the corner from the hotel. You were staring blankly out the window at nothing, fiddling absentmindedly with your napkin. Gladio had ordered for you, after you had shaken your head silently at the waitress.  Not really caring what he had asked for but the plate that was put in front of you had been a pleasant surprise. You weren’t aware Gladio paid that much attention to your eating habits but seeing your favourite food in front of you sent a small wave of grateful happiness through your low mood. “Thank you” your words are quiet and you offered him a small smile when he locked eyes with you. “You need to eat it all” his words are gruff and if you didn’t know better you’d think there was a light pink tinge to his cheeks. Before you can muster up the energy to tease him Prompto is pushing into your side. “You gotta try this” Holding up what looks like a fry dipped in his milkshake you eye it warily. “No thanks?” “Come on! Trust me it’s -”, a cough from Ignis has him lowering his offering in disappointment. “Aw man, you don’t know what you’re missing out on” He remains close to your side as you go back to your own food. You don’t feel particularly hungry but you can feel Gladio and Ignis watching you and you don’t have the energy to argue. You must have zoned out again as Ignis soft call of your name startles you. “Noctis is having trouble with his back this evening”, he repeats, “We were discussing delaying our trip for a day” You glance at Noct and you know immediately that’s it’s a lie but you don’t care enough to point it out or to wonder what they are up to this time. You shrug. “Ok” “A day off will do us all good” Ignis continues, watching you intently as he speaks but you just nod and give another quiet ok in response.
“It’ll be fun!” Prompto swivels back to you “I can show you some of the cool shots I got yesterday, there’s a couple of really funny ones of Noct when he – “ Noctis cuts him off with a low warning growl and you can’t help but smile at the playful threat. Prompto raises his hands in mock surrender before turning back to you. “First photos I’ll show you” he whispers before he continues his plan for the day. “Just chillin with some trashy TV and a pile of junk food,” he pauses and glances at Ignis, “uh, right Iggy?” Ignis stares at him before sighing “I will pick something up on the way back to the hotel” “Great!” Prompto’s enthusiasm is infectious and you find yourself nodding along as he continues his ideas for the day. Leaving Ignis to sort out the bill the rest of you start a slow walk back to the hotel. With Prompto and Noctis walking in front of you still arguing over whatever embarrassing pictures he had on his camera, you feel a little happier than you did before your meal but you still feel tense and oddly exposed, even with Gladio walking next to you. He steps closer, wrapping an arm round your waist to bring you tight into his side. He doesn’t say anything, which you are incredibly grateful for, just leans down to press a lingering kiss to your temple. Smothered into his side makes all your senses scream ‘safe’ and relaxing into his hold you are back at your hotel room before you know it. With another kiss he pushes you through the door with a sharp smack to your backside. He laughs at your reaction and lets his hand linger on your ass as he guides you in to the middle of the room. “Shoes off” The way he kneels down in front of you sends a mild buzz of arousal through you, which he notices, because of course he does, and he winks at you as you place your hands on his shoulders to steady yourself. “I think you like me down here” With your shoes off his hands glide up your legs to the button of your jeans and you roll your eyes in mock annoyance. “I can take my own jeans off” he ignores your comment and instead places a quick kiss to your stomach as he yanks the fabric down your legs.
Your protest turns into a yelp as Gladio hoists you up over his shoulder to deposit you unceremoniously on his bed. “Get comfy” your disappointment as you watch him walk into the bathroom is short lived as Noctis and Prompto instantly try to snuggle you down into the mattress with them. Your hiss of annoyance is half-hearted and they both ignore it. Noct slipping straight into his favourite position at your side, head resting against your chest while Prompto grabs the remote to the TV before laying his head in your lap. Noct’s usual technique at comforting you was an unusual method of ‘bothering you until you pet him’ rather than outright affection but the way he was purring softly as you ran your fingers through his hair was actually calming, you had to admit. And the knowledge of the little huff he would have afterwards when he noticed the state of his hair added a small boost of amusement to your mood. Although the way he noses at your nipple through your shirt has you groaning in slight annoyance. “Not now Noct.” You can practically hear the whine building up in his throat but he doesn’t push you further, just shifts until his head is resting comfortably on your chest.
The sound of the TV and Noct’s gentle purring lulls you in to a drowsy peaceful state. Prompto quiet murmur of your name has your attention drawn back to him. He wants to say something or ask you something, you can tell from the sudden flux of nervousness in his scent and you brace yourself.  Instead he presses a quick kiss to your thigh that surprises a giggle out of you so he does it again. “I’m glad you’re here” his words are quiet, whispered against your skin in-between his kisses but the sincerity in them is obvious and you bite your lip to stop yourself from crying. “You are too, right?” His question hurts, and your thoughts from the morning come rushing back to you. You were glad, but the guilt at feeling like that was overpowering at times.  You hum noncommittally in response, not trusting yourself to answer. Noct obviously notices your distress and his hand squeezes your hip briefly before reaching down to smack Prompt lightly on the head “noisy” he grumbles “I’m trying to watch this” Gladio’s emergence from the bathroom and rumbled demand of ‘move’ distracts Prompto from making whatever snappy reply he had, and instead he moves with a pout, clambering over you to sit behind Noct. As you move from under Noctis’ weight, Gladio is not even completely down before you are curling up into his side. “Where’s Ignis?” you can’t stop your hand from trailing over his bare chest, tracing over the edge of his tattoo lightly. “Probably talking to the hotel clerk, he'll be here soon.” Gladio’s hand slips up under your t-shirt to rest on your ribs and you shiver, trying to push yourself closer. His fingers tracing small circles into your skin “Relax baby, daddy’s got you” the word is new, and you do your best to ignore the way it makes your stomach flutter. He doesn’t complain as you hook your leg over his, content to let you wriggle and shift until you are comfortable, half lying on top of him. “Better?” You nod against his chest and he raises his hand to start stroking through your hair, mimicking your earlier position with Noct. “You’re allowed be happy“ Gladio’s words whispered into your hair take you by surprise  and you bury your face further into his chest to try and hide your sudden rush of tears. He says nothing further and the quiet as he continues to stroke your hair is surprisingly soothing, the only noise over your quiet sniffles is the slight creak of the bed as Noctis and Prompto try to subtly move closer to you, offering you comfort and warmth against your back without saying a word. You must have dozed off after a while as the next thing you are aware of is the soft press of Ignis lips against your forehead. He sits on the edge of the bed next to Gladio’s quietly snoring form and the concern in his expression makes tears prick at your eyes again. He moves slightly, his hand brushing away a stray tear from your cheek. "Talk to me?" he asks softly. You’re silent for a few long seconds, not sure if you can explain your mess of thoughts and emotions well enough for him to understand
"I don’t…” your breath hitches and you try to swallow around the lump in your throat, “I don’t think about it much anymore” Its vague, and you don’t say any more, don’t clarify what you mean but Ignis seems to understand you. “Whether you do or don’t, it’s Ok, we still love you“ He brushes away another tear. He cups your face gently, and you turn into his touch with a shaky sigh. The outright acceptance of your jumbled emotions that you receive from the four of them is unsettling in the best way. You feel loved, and the tears begin anew at the realisation. In your own world, with your own family, you had never felt this level of belonging and acceptance. The guilt that maybe you didn’t actually want to return there was still prevalent, but felt less sharp than it had done.   The look of alarm across Ignis face at your fresh tears makes you smile in faint amusement. “I’m ok” he looks doubtful at your claim and you fight back the mild hysterical urge to laugh  “I am, Ignis, truly I am”. You swallow, wrestling your emotions back under some semblance of control and kiss his palm. “It’s just,” you hesitate “a lot. I’m not used to,” you gesture loosely between you “this” you give him a genuine smile this time, “but it’s getting easier” ‘This’ was a poor descriptor for describing the bond you felt as part of the pack. But Ignis seemed to know what you meant. He stills looks a little concerned but he leans down to kiss you, “You’re our omega” he reminds you. The possessive lilt to his words sends a happy shiver through you and you hum into his kiss in agreement.
Feeling vulnerable but a lot more stable, the adrenaline from the whiplash of emotions over the day has left you feeling restless and fills you with the sudden childish desire to annoy the man sleeping beneath you. You flick your finger sharply across Gladio’s nipple, snickering quietly at his sleepy annoyed grunt and at Ignis’ look of bemusement. He stands with an almost audible roll of his eyes just as you are considering biting down on the nipple closest to you. “I won’t protect you from the consequences of whatever foolish action you are thinking of taking” He watches as you bite your lip in thought before he turns away with a small huff of amusement “Those two are a bad influence on you”
“Hey,” as if summoned by the promise of trouble Prompto stirs behind you, poking you in your side. You twist in Gladio’s tight hold to try and look at him. “Noct is asleep” he gives you a mischievous grin and you respond automatically with a smile of your own even though you don’t know what he’s planning “wanna see those photos now?”

VALUED
Pairing: Chocobros x Reader
Words: 2.683
Warnings: fluff, friendship
Synopsis: Yn doubts herself and then, it's good to have a bunch of good friends nearby to remind her that she's valued by them.
"Hey, pretty doll. Why are you with these guys? Join me instead. I'm more fun than them.", a guy, dressed in dusty shorts and an old t-shirt, leaning casually against a boarding, called out with a smug smile as yn and her friends passed him.
Usually, she ignored provocations or flirting like this but this time, Yn sized the guy up, looking doubting about his statement, "I would rather love to die on the spot.", she answered, turning around to continue her way to the motel where the group was currently staying to help out with some hunts before they would continue their journey.
"Uhh, harsh words from such a little girl.", the guy said grinning.
Within one second, Yn stopped and jumped at the guy, casted one of her daggers out of nowhere to press it dangerously close against his throat, "Who do you call 'little girl', huh?", she hissed while staring into his shock-filled eyes.
"Yn!", Gladio called out, reaching her with just three strides of his long legs to drag her away from the guy who was white as salt, "What are you doing?"
Yn was trembling in his strong grip to get free, "He called me little girl. So, let me go!", she hissed through gritted teeth, stemming against his hold once again.
"No!", he boomed with his deep voice, "First, you have to calm down.", Gladio demanded. He was struggling with keeping her in place. Not because she would be that strong rather because he didn't mean to hurt her.
"But he's an asshole!", Yn argued angrily, wiggling under Gladio's hands.
"Hey!", the guy called out as he found his voice again.
"Yes, he is but still.", Gladio said, ignoring the guy's complaint.
"Hey, I can hear you!", the guy called out again but he got silenced by Gladio's angry glance shot at him.
"And you should leave or I will release her after all.", Gladio commanded and the guy disappeared.
As he was gone, Gladio released Yn but was also watching out that she stayed where she was, "What the hell was that? You can't attack random people with daggers.", Gladio said admonishingly, crossing his arms over his chest but his expression softened as he saw her sad glance glued to the ground.
Softly, Gladio placed his index finger under her chin, "Yn, that wasn't just because they called you 'little girl', right? You never did something like this before."
But instead of answering, yn just shrugged with her shoulders and looked away again.
"If it was because of that, you know that none of us sees you like this, right? You're an important part of our group.", Gladio said, calming in hope he got through to her.
"But sometimes it doesn't feel like that. None of you really need me. It's not that I would be useful. All of you are much better fighters than I am. With bigger swords or better skills.", Yn said glumly and because Gladio stayed silent, she took it as an agreement, passed him and the others to go back to the motel room.
Disbelieving, Gladio stared after her. Almost shocked, he watched how one of his best friends went away with slumped shoulders, a hanging head and her hands buried deep into the pockets of her jeans.
"What just happened?", Ignis asked confused as he stepped next to Gladio.
"Is something wrong with her?"Prompto asked, concerned as he also watched Yn walking away. Noctis joined as well, frowning about the unusual behavior. They had watched the scene because they were sure Gladio would be able to handle that. Somehow, they were wrong...
"I have no idea...", Gladio said confused, scratching the back of his neck. Since he knew her, Yn was the best female fighter he had met. Yes, she was smaller but extremely fast. Faster than Ignis and Prompto when she was fighting against creatures and enemies. Yes, she used daggers just like Ignis but she wasn't less deadly with them.
There was no reason for her to feel … useless.
Gladio was still staring after Yn even as she was already out of sight as Ignis stepped in front of him, "We should do something to help her.", he said, tapping with his index finger against his lips, trying to find an idea.
"But what could we do?", Prompto asked, "I always thought she knows how important she is to us-"
"It's not about us. You heard her. She is doubting her fighting skills.", Gladio pointed out. Slowly but surely, he understood what might be going on with her. Even as a King's Shield, he had been at the same point. He just had fought through it.
"So, what are you suggesting? Shall we train with her?", Prompto asked naively that this would fix things.
"Actually, I might have an idea.", Noctis said and pulled a piece of paper out of the back pocket of his pants.
***
Yn sat on her bed in the motel room she shared with the boys and let her legs slowly dangling over the edge while she stared out of the window. Behind the glass was nothing to be seen but sand, dust and a bunch of bushes. The blue sky was cloudless. The weather was sunny and cheerful. The complete opposite to her current mood.
Over and over again, her mind played through the attack on that random guy. And each time, she winced at the memory. Never before, she had attacked someone randomly just because of some teasing. And it wasn't just the 'little girl' thing. It had been the glances back in Insomnia as she had trained with different weapons to extend her skills. She heard the whispers behind her back when she walked next to Gladio who was so much taller than herself while they were discussing new move sets. Then, she left with her friends and even then, someone had asked her if this journey would be the right thing for such a small, pretty girl. As if her height and appearance would be everything that mattered.
With a swift move, Yn casted her daggers into her hands. Kukris. She never had seen such beautiful blades like these two with all their ornaments and detailed engravings. She felt honored as King Regis had given them to her. She felt blessed to be able to wield them to defend and to protect the Prince and her other friends. But nevertheless, sometimes, it felt as if it wasn't enough.
Since they had passed the secure wall of their home, Yn was doubting herself. None of the boys gave her the feeling to be useless. She did it on her own. Years of training and dedication to be a good fighter went south as she saw how good the others were on the field. All of them had much more training and even Noctis was able to wield a greatsword - which Yn couldn’t even move one bit.
While she stared at her daggers, tears were building in her eyes and as she blinked, hot teardrops were falling on the daggers. Angry about herself, she casted them away. Now, she didn't even feel worthy to own them...
"Here you are!", Gladio said as he opened the door of the motel room.
Quickly, Yn wiped the tears from her eyes with the sleeve of her black sweatshirt before she turned around, facing all four boys standing in front of her. She was sure they would notice that she had cried but they said nothing about it, "What is it?", she asked carefully, not knowing what would come next.
It was Prompto who answered her question as he jumped on the bed to land next to her, flinging his arm around her shoulders, "Noctis got asked for help by Tikka. A delivery of green beans went missing and we shall take a look if we can find it."
Amused, yn looked from Prompto at Noctis, "You wanna rescue green beans? You?"
"Yeah... I know. Come on, we hit the road.", Noctis said and left the room, followed by Ignis.
Prompto jumped from the bed and ran after them, "On the way, we can check if we find anything interesting so I can take a photo."
"If not, you can take selfies ... as usual.", Noctis teased and because they were already out of sight, yn just heard their bickering.
At the door, Gladio waited for yn, "You know, if you wanna talk about something, I'm there for you.", he said softly, checking on her but stayed silent.
Yn smiled up at him, already feeling better again, "Thanks. I will talk to you just … give me some time."
***
"Just green beans, huh? Green beans my ass.", yn stated as she watched Bulettes emerging form the small wood they just had passed. The four tall, very heavy and very angry animals aimed for her and her friends.
Gladio was already casting his great sword, wielding it over his head, "Come on, a little fight will keep us slinky and flexible.", he said and nudged her shoulder with his own before he smirked at her.
With a grin, yn looked up at the tall guy, "Slinky and flexible aren't words I would use to describe you, big guy.", she said teasingly.
"Ouch, no need to be mean.", Gladio called out, playfully hurt before they both aimed for the first animal.
Quickly, the calm and beautiful meadow changed into a raging battlefield. Gladio and Yn ran to the first animal and even before Gladio could make the first hit, he squatted down and offered Yn his hand and arm. Grinning, she stepped on his arm, one foot on his hand, balancing while casting her daggers and tensing up her muscles before Gladio gave her a push to throw her on top of the animal. Yn landed perfect on the back. Quickly, she found her balance again and while Gladio slammed his great sword into the skin of the animal, Yn swirled her Kukris and sank them into the throat and neck of the raging Bulette. The Kukris stuck but instead to pull them out, Yn spun them around until the animal fell to the ground.
Lifeless.
Yn jumped from the carcass with a flip and landed light-footed in front of Gladio who grinned impressed, "One down, three to go. Come on, I guess the others need our help."
"Yn, over here!", Noctis called out and Yn followed him immediately. Noctis was ready for a warp-attack that would give the opportunity of a blitz attack. Noctis warped with his KINGSBLADE against the animal and bounced back next to Yn. They nodded, taking a run-up of a few steps and while Noctis let himself drop on one knee to attack the feet of the Bulette, Yn ran and stepped on Noctis' back to jump against the broad enemy to thrust her daggers between its ribs into the heart. She stayed a few moments longer to make sure the creature was dead. As it fell lifeless to the ground, Yn stemmed her feet against the ribcage and pulled out her daggers.
Yn was just about to catch her breath as Prompto called her over, "Yn, I could need your help."
She turned her head before she spurted over to her friend. Prompto already had drawn his gun, firing at the beast but as Yn stopped next to him, they nodded at each other with a grin, turning over so they were standing back to back before Prompto was aiming for the animal again. Yn did the same with her daggers. From the corner of her eyes, she waited for his sign. As Prompto nodded with a grin, he fired his gun the same moment Yn threw her Kukri. The shot staggered the animal in its way towards them. It became slower while Yn's dagger penetrated the skull of the animal. The Bulette stumbled over its feet, fell to the ground and slid a small way before it stopped in front of their feet.
As yn thought it would be over, Ignis called her over to him, "Come on, I need you for the finisher.", he called out. With a huge grin on her lips, Yn ran towards him. Gladio and Noctis had made the animal already tired. Ignis and Yn bumped their fists against each other, stepped back and ran then to the animal to attack it at the same time with their daggers before they landed side by side on the other side elegantly on their knees. Everything happened so fast, that the Bulette needed a moment to realize that it had no chance anymore and so, it fell lifeless to the ground.
All five friends were breathless but alive, unharmed and happy. With a rapid pulse, Yn turned around to look at the scene of battle while she casted the daggers away.
Ignis inspected the corpses, "We should take something with us before we find a good spot for camping and cooking.", he said and Prompto already joined him to help with the preparations.
***
Two hours later, the tent was built, the food was cooked and eaten and Prompto, Ignis and Noctis stretched themselves, the sign that they were ready for the night. One by one, they called it a night until just Gladio and Yn were left behind, sitting at the crackling campfire in silence observing the calming flames.
Yn watched how small sparks danced endlessly into the dark blue night sky. Stars were scattered over the firmament like millions of diamonds. Her eyes stayed glued to the stars while she smiled softly, "I know what you all did today.", she whispered, breaking the silence.
"What... what do you mean?", Gladio asked, trying to sound convincing but it wasn't working very well, he saw it in her face.
"There never were any green beans, right?", Yn pointed out, still looking to the stars.
Gladio chuckled low, scratching the back of his neck before he looked apologetically at her, "Actually, no... not really."
"I thought that it was a bit odd for Noctis to run around to search for a bunch of vegetables.", Yn said before she looked into Gladio's face, "Thank you.", she whispered sheepishly.
Gladio laid his arm around her shoulders, "You're welcome, sweetheart. You're valued here. Always. We wanted to show you that.", he whispered before he pressed a soft kiss on top of her hair. He pulled her against his side where she snuggled against his chest. It wasn't the first time that they were seeking comfort in each other but this time it felt more important.
Gladio rested his head on top of hers and looked back into the flames, "We have your back, no matter what. You know, I've been there as well. I also had doubts about myself. I guess that's normal. You just have to remember what you're capable of. We trust you all blindly because we know what you are able to do.", Gladio said low.
A single tear was rolling down Yn's cheek by his words and suddenly, everything that had happened looked stupid and odd. Quickly, Yn wiped the tears away, "I feel so stupid.", she whispered.
Gladio straightened himself to look at her, "You don't have to. It's human to doubt oneself from time to time. And the next time, when you feel like this, just come to me. Talk with me. You don't have to go through this alone. Size isn't all that matters.", Gladio said with a smirk.
Yn felt touched by this big, cuddly teddy bear and so, she threw herself against his solid body with her arms flung around his middle. Gladio mimicked her move and embraced her back, "And by the way, you have the perfect size to lean and to snuggle against me like this. That's a good start, don't you think?", he chuckled but Yn couldn't answer.
"Cuddle time!", Prompto called out and within one second, Gladio and Yn were attacked by Prompto, Ignis and Noctis. Buried underneath her friends, Yn felt her confidence coming back.
She felt valued.

The Dream
Tumblr media
A long week of work had drained me and I was looking forward to playing Final Fantasy XV as well as watching all of my Final Fantasy animes and movies once I walked through my front door. Running up the front steps to my house, I opened the door gently, not wanting to scare my little chihuahua. She was terrified of loud noises and I did just about everything in my power not to make them myself. Dropping my bag at the front door, I leaned down and unzipped the sides of my knee-high platform boots and lined them up under a ebony coat rack which I then hung up my light over coat on. Taking the steps upstairs, I slid into my room and ducked my head under my bed looking for my little one.
"Ten-two babe, you under here?" I cooed softly.
Glancing back and forth under the dark space, I didn't see a small black and white form so I stood up and wandered over to a small chair that had a small open space under it that was covered with fabric. Pulling the fabric up, I leaned down peered through that shaded space. A small little black and white face blinked back at me, and I gave a smile.
"There's my baby." I giggle, reaching under the chair and pulling her to me.
As soon as I had pulled my little chihuahua out from under the chair, she snuggled her little body against my chest and buried her little face into my throat.
"Yes, baby Ten, I know. I missed you too. Sissy was thinking about watching my movies and animes and playing one of my games." I cooed at her, nuzzling the side of her head softly, "I was going to watch my Final Fantasy XV series. I have the whole weekend off and we can snuggle the whole time. Just like you love to do."
My chihuahua was a big cuddler, and I loved it. There was nothing the two of us liked more than me setting up some water for her next to my gaming beanbag along with some food, turning the air-conditioner on high so that my house was a fair bit nippy so none of my electronics would overheat due to extended play, and cuddling down underneath the fluffy Ignis/Ravus themed blanket I had decided to buy online. It was a time that the two of us absolutely thrived together. I was content playing my games and watching anything that was playing on the T.V. screen, and Tenshi was beyond happy snuggled down across half my lap with her face buried in my stomach until she wanted to go outside or to eat and drink. Eating and drinking was a necessity for me as well, but it was something I rarely did due to the fact that I only ate just once a day and snacked for the rest.
I would keep chips and some vegetable pieces on a nearby table, but other than that, the two of us could sit for hours on end together like that. A soft whine next to my ear was my only answer to whether or not Tenshi was okay with the plans I had made. Pulling my gaming chair over in front of my T.V., I gently sat her down in it and draped my blanket over her. Walking out of my room, I first went to the thermostat and turned the temperature down to a cool 68 degrees so the two of us would be comfortable. Then I made my way down the stairs into my kitchen to start gathering everything Tenshi and I would need for the rest of the night.
Pulling a tray out of one of my cabinet, I placed it on the island in the middle of the kitchen. Turning to the fridge, I pulled out some celery, carrots, a cucumber, an apple, some blueberries, some mushrooms, and some green peppers. I had eaten my normal meal earlier in the day, so I intended to snack the rest of the day. I smiled to myself, thinking about Noctis and how much he hated vegetables and how much Ignis always harped on him to eat them. I learned early in my life to enjoy them considering that I had trouble eating a lot of food and often had to limit myself.
I learned to eat healthy snacks, and for my main meals I would sometimes splurge and eat unhealthy things. Washing everything, I cut them into manageable pieces and laid them out on the tray so I could carry them up into my room. I then pulled two bowls down out of one of the cabinets as well, and pulled a jug of water out of the fridge. Grabbing the small bag of dog food that was inside the pantry, I dropped those into a small bag next to the island. Pulling out a few Mountain Dews from the fridge as well, I dropped those in the bag.
I then dropped a bag of Snickers, a bag of sour cream and cheddar chips in the bag. Looking around the kitchen once more to make sure I was happy with what I had gathered, then nodded my head satisfied. Picking up the bag and slinging it over my shoulder and picking up the tray I made my way back up to my room and set everything down on my desk. Slowly setting everything up, I took the two bowls and set them down on a mat that was a few feet away from my gaming chair. I filled one up with water and the other with a little bit of dog food.
Then pulling my Japanese style table that I always used to hold my food whenever I was gaming, I set it up next to my chair. Slowly spreading out my food on the table as if I was setting up a banquet for a queen, I stood back up and looked at the layout. A sleek black and white head poked itself up from underneath the midnight blanket that had covered it.
"Nope! Sorry silly, none of this for you! You might get some apples, but not right now." I chirped to her.
She tilted her head cutely.
"Don't you give me those cute angel eyes, missy! You know better!" I hissed softly, no anger in my voice.
The cuteness only intensified.
"Oh damn it..." I muttered, reaching down and picking up a slice of apple and breaking off a small piece and holding it out to her.
She darted forward and snatched it out of my hand crunching on it happily.
"You're lucky your cute." I cooed gently.
I turned away and pulled off my shirt, tossing it into the hamper over near my bed and pulling on my sleep shirt that was on my bed. My jeans met the same fate as my shirt and I slipped on my night shorts. Walking over to my PlayStation, I picked up my controller and turned on my console as I was walking back to my chair. Lifting my blanket, I set my controller on the table before lifting Tenshi and settling myself into the chair. Lowering Tenshi into my lap, I let her get comfortable before tucking the blanket in around the both of us and reaching over and picking back up my controller.
By now my PlayStation had booted itself up and was displaying my Devil May Cry 5 background. I was a die hard Final Fantasy fan. But I loved Devil May Cry too, so every so often my background would fluctuate between a Devil May Cry background or a Final Fantasy background. I clicked through the Icons that were displayed on the screen and settled on the Episode Ardyn Prologue. Ardyn wasn't my favorite person, but if I was going to go all the way through this series, I was going to do it right.
Starting at the very beginning and going to the very end. Setting the controller on the table beside me, I dipped my arms beneath my blanket and wrapped them around Tenshi a little, settling in to watch the movie. The beginning of the epic tale of Final Fantasy XV.

Genre: angst, fluff, slight smut

a/n: so um...haechan

“At least she hasn’t killed anyone, at least she hasn’t killed anyone, at least she hasn’t killed anyone, at least she hasn’t killed anyone.”
The words repeated and repeated in your head as the image played. Before you knew it, you heard a voice calling out for you.
“Kitten, turn it off.”
It was Haechan’s voice, but why was Haechan in your mind? How was he in your mind?
“That’s right, kitten, all you have to do is turn it off.” Haechan thought to himself as he felt the dark magic run through him.
“Are you sure you’re gonna get her to turn her humanity off?” Richard asked.
“You dare doubt me?” Haechan asked, turning to face the older man, who was getting impatient.
“If you don’t need my help, the-” “No, I’m not doubting.” Richard sighed.
“Perfect.” Haechan laughed as he closed his eyes.
He was consumed by the dark magic at this point, he used so much dark magic at this point that the veins on his neck were almost black.
He felt empowered by it, so he did small spells to feed off of the ego boost he got whenever he did dark magic.
He felt like he was powerless before that, he couldn’t even bring himself to confess his feelings to you, no, he knew the others liked you and that he was too late, but dark haechan? He had no room for guilt, pitty or self-doubt.
“Maybe she’s too innocent.” Richard sighed, making Haechan laugh.
“Don’t underestimate the allure of darkness. Even the purest hearts are drawn to it. Besides, have you seen how big of a hoe she’s been? Wrapping not one, not two, not even three, but four guys around her finger? She’s far from innocent, or at least she will be once I’m finished with her.” Haechan chuckled to himself.
“Haechan?” You asked.
“Yes, kitten?” He asked back.
You were standing in front of the school all of a sudden, he was wearing ripped black skinny jeans, a tight black turtle neck and a leather jacket, his left hand in his pocket as the right one was extended, signalling for you to put your hand in his.
His hair was parted and it was darker than before, his lips were also darker, the veins on his neck were more visible, they looked almost black. He looked evil, but you couldn’t help but be attracted to him like this.
“What’s happening?” You asked again.
“Take my hand.” He commanded, causing your heart to speed up. You gulped and did as he said, and when you did, he pulled you closer.
“I know what you did.” He whispered while looking into your eyes, that’s when you noticed his eyes getting darker.
“The woman in the woods, you killed her, didn’t you?” He added as a single tear rolled down your cheek.
“I’m not here to scold you, baby girl.” He said, lifting your chin with his finger.
“No, Hyuck is here to help, you know how?” He asked, you shook your head and he smirked at you.
“What if I told you that all the pain could go away, no remorse, no regret, no pain?” He whispered, each word sounds more and more intoxicating.
“Do you want that?” He asked, as he got closer to you as you nodded. “Then all you have to do is turn your humanity off, kitten.” He whispered into your ear, his voice making you almost moan from how attractive he sounded.
“First of all, I’m not suppose to. Second of all, Olor sa-”
“I didn’t ask you to bring math into this conversation, sweetheart. First of all, rules are meant to broken, second of all, Olor? I thought he kidnapped Renjun, how can you trust him? And third of all? I don’t care what the third one was, now, are you going to let me help you?” Haechan cut you off, throwing all of the sanity, that you regained, away.
“You have a point, but-” “Kitten, are you doubting me?” He asked, putting the hand that was lifting your chin on his chest as to show how hurt he was.
“No, bu-” “Be a good girl and listen to me, will ya?” He asked, wrapping his hand around your waist before whispering “turn. it.off.”
You looked into his eyes and all you could think of was trying hard not to melt into his arms.
“Kitten, turn it off, for me.” He said and as soon as he winked at you while smirking, you felt like you were losing.
“You don’t want to remember the pain of watching the life being drained from th-” “I’ll do it, just please stop mentioning it.” You said, making him smirk.
“What are you waiting for?” He asked as you closed your eyes, allowing all the tears to finally fall as you flipped the switch inside of you.
When you opened your eyes, you were in your bed. You looked up and saw your reflection in the mirror. Bloodshot eyes, veins under your eyes and as you tried to remember what happened.
You turned it off.
“Doubt me again and you’ll regret it.” Haechan smirked to himself as he got up and made his way to your room, leaving Richard alone.
“Kitten? Ready to light the world on fire?” He asked, smirking as he saw you leave your room.
“Something like that.” You smirked back at him, causing him to chuckle and take your hand before walking out of the school.
“Ignis.” You both said right before walking out.
As the door behind you began burning, you felt a hand on your waist, pulling you closer to Haechan.
“So proud of you, kitten.” He said before cupping your face and kissing you. He imagined kissing you before, but he didn’t know that the moment his lips would meet his, he would love it this much.
As the fire burned in the background, he smirked into the kiss and used a non-verbal teleportation spell to teleport you to the safety of his cabin in the woods.
a/n: as you can tell, I have haechan feels now....was this a shocker? i don’t know, you tell me.

" it's been a while since we've been here, hasn't it? " the hound hummed, tilting his head to rest his temple against lover's. boyfriend's. they sat at the same table as before, though now pressed together far more intimately, their hands twined together; canine's free one idly curled fingers around his glass to bring it up to his lips. " honestly, i've never been able to resist you... " a purr slipped free as he set the glass down, now sliding his hand under the table... over a thigh, curling fingers in to drag claws over the material of jeans, before daring further and further, closer to the avian's core while biting down on his lip. " not since i first saw you... " with those words, his hand slipped between naoto's legs, nails biting into inner thighs before palming at groin.
--- Had they ever...officially started dating? He couldn’t remember. Rather, it simply had just felt so natural, to fall into this routine with the taller that eventually had him at the restaurant nearly every day. That eventually had him staying over at the others apartment, gradually leaving more and more clothes there, or better yet? Stealing his. Temples pressed together, the residual heat from lovers body making him relax instantaneously before he offered a faint nod.
--- With digits twined, carefully, he gave a squeeze and a small chuckle in turn. ‘ Yeah, well. We’re usually pretty busy. ‘ he rolled his eyes playfully at the question, with Ignis having asked about their time spent in this bar. It was the one they’d gone to on their first date, which only made this moment that much more cathartic, avian dragging boyfriend’s twined digits to his lips where he could pressed a kiss to knuckles. The smile upon his features wouldn’t leave, not for anything, even as lover purred out just how much he couldn’t resist the youth, nearly leaving falcon to preen.
Tumblr media
--- Breath caught, pulling his lower lip between his teeth and gnawing at it with a small noise of approval as claws curled over his thigh, sliding up and closer to his groin before pausing as words continued to spill free. ‘ No? Not...at all? ‘ he whispered out in response, quiet and somewhat heavy in breath at the initial comment, before a grin settled upon lips. ‘ I never...ever would have guessed that you’ were so smitten, from the very moment we met... ‘ he groaned softly as warm digits moved further up.
--- Attention to thighs was one another, but as groin was palmed and handled smoothly and beneath the cover of the table, he couldn’t stop the heat from gathering in his cheeks with a small huff. ‘ Ig... ‘ it was a soft noise. He pressed closer to the other, huddled, tucked just against and under the hound’s side as he tried to hide the darkening flush upon features and the way length twitched beneath the confines of pants at the attention. The expression he turned towards companion was....positively innocent, expression soft and wanting. Inviting and possessing all the “baby” energy vibes the other had come to learn he had.

Ocean - Armin x Reader
(A/n): My first fic for this boy! Fluffy, sfw and Modern!AU :)
~
It was a hot summer day in July and Armin had planned a beach trip with (Y/n) and their friends. Although he had been to the beach many times before, (Y/n) had never gone and since they had just started dating a month ago, he wanted her to get the full experience. Gathering the blankets, sunscreen, beach ball and snacks, he placed them all in Eren's car before getting inside of it with Eren, Mikasa and (Y/n). They would be meeting with the others at the beach.
The car ride had been fun with Eren and Armin singing along to songs on the radio. (Y/n) joined in from time to time, singing along to whatever song she heard before and knew the lyrics to. She felt the warm breeze brush against her skin through the window of the car as they finally arrived to their destination. Waiting for Armin to open the car door, he motioned her to step out and placed her hand on Mikasa's shoulder to guide her to the beach itself, while he got the supplies with Eren. While walking over, Mikasa opted for a little chat.
"So, (Y/n). You've seriously never been to the beach before?"
"No", she replied. "My mom just never took me". She sounded a little sad.
Taking note of how she responded, Mikasa noticed they were about to touch sand. She took it as an opportunity to introduce the new feeling to her.
"You've heard of sand right?"
"Yeah I have. Armin told me all about it back at home. They're filled with little rocks or seashells sometimes and it's hot!", she replied, some excitement filling her voice.
"Well, we're about to step into it. Take your sandals off".
Listening to her instructions, she removed her sandals but hesitated a bit before sticking her feet in the sand.
(Y/n) gasped as the feeling was just like how Armin described it. It was soft, yet firm and she felt the little grains of sand surround her toes along with tiny rocks. Problem was that it was hot.
"Ow ow hot hottt", (Y/n) called out before her and Mikasa joined together in laughter. She searched for her sandals by reaching down around her until she found them and slid them back on her feet.
"So, how did that feel, other than hot?", Mikasa asked.
"It's just how Armin described it. Soft yet firm and I felt little rocks!".
"That's good then", Mikasa replied. We should meet up with the others, I'm sure they finished setting up by now while we were having our little fun."
Agreeing, Mikasa guided her to where the others were as they waved her over. That's when (Y/n) heard other voices. Wondering who they were, she decided to wait until she was spoken to.
"Hey, (Y/n)! Long time no see!". That was Jean. She decided to poke fun back at his comment.
"I guess I could say the same thing", she replied.
"Ow!" Jean called out as (Y/n) heard someone hit him. She listened for the voice.
"Don't make idiotic jokes like that Jean!". That was Sasha.
(Y/n) laughed. "Hey hey no worries. I'm used to it now". She heard Sasha sigh. "Doesn't mean it's okay!". She heard Connie and Marco's laugh somewhere in the background.
"(Y/n)!" That was Armin.
Listening for where his voice came from, she figured out it was from her left and turned to face that way. "What is it?" She asked.
"We finished setting up and the others are here. Let's sit down".
By the others being here, he meant Ymir, Historia, Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt. Letting go of Mikasa, Armin grabbed her hand and placed it on his shoulder as he guided her to their spot. Taking a seat, she heard the others leave as they were going to get into the ocean. Armin decided to stay behind with her. He held her hand as they sat on the shared blanket.
The beach felt amazing so far. She could feel the intense heat yet warm breeze brush up against her skin and heard the seagulls that flew nearby. She also heard the sound of the sea as what she assumed were waves crashing onto the shore, like Armin told her before. There was one question that was on her mind so she took the chance to ask.
"Hey Armin?" she asked.
"Yes?"
"What color is the ocean?"
Armin was shocked by the question. (Y/n) had been blind her entire life, that much he knew for sure. She would ask him a lot about what things were like and how they felt but had yet to ask about color.
How do I explain a color she's never seen before?, he thought to himself.
"Armin?", (Y/n) asked. "You okay?"
It snapped him out of his thoughts. "Yeah I'm okay! Sorry, I was just thinking."
"It's okay if you can't explain it to me. I'll- ". She was cut off.
"No no, it's no trouble! I have an idea. Come with me".
He helped her get up as they walked over to the ocean.
"You'll need to take your sandals off for this", he instructed.
"But the sand is hot", (Y/n) said.
"Don't worry about it. Where we'll be standing it'll be cool."
Listening to him, she took her sandals off once more and took a few steps forward before feeling water on her feet.
She gasped at the sudden coldness and squeezed his hand. "Ahhh, cold coldddd". Armin laughed. "It'll feel like that at first but give it a few minutes, you'll adjust!"
She waited a minute or two before hearing Armin speak.
"The color of the ocean is blue. Blue is cool like the water you feel on your feet and it's calming. The sky is also the same color. Blue is the sound of the waves that crash onto the shore. The smell of the ocean also describes what the color blue is like".
(Y/n) took a deep breath as she inhaled the scent of the sea. She heard the splashing of the water and their friends and children laughing and playing in the water. She felt relaxed, just like Armin told her how the color blue is.
"Hey Armin", she said.
"Hm?", he replied.
"Didn't you tell me before that your eyes were blue?", thinking back to the time when they first met and she wanted to know what Armin looked like.
"Yes they are", he replied. She could hear his smile in his voice.
"Wow…" she said. "So your eyes are the color of the sea…."
Armin blushed at the comment. He had never heard anyone make that comparison before and it only made him love (Y/n) even more. He didn't care if she was blind. It only made him more determined to show her the world.
She gave his hand a tight squeeze. "I think the color blue is beautiful".

Spark (Male Fire Elemental, pt. 3)
Tumblr media
After a sudden setback, Simone is unsure if her original goal of making her grandmother’s house a home is doable. But the outcome to a phone call may be the encouragement she needs to keep going. And with Ignis by her side, things start to look up.
Female Human (POV) x Male Monster  [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 4]
“Will that be all, officer?”
The cop jots down my partial description of the intruder and pockets her notepad.
“Yes, Miss Price, that should do it,” she says. She glances over at Mason’s pickup and frowns. “While we can’t allow you or your boyfriend back inside, I can bring out some clothes for him.”
Ignis hasn’t said a thing since Mica dialed 9-1-1 with my phone. Which makes sense with everything that’s happened without warning so far. He’s been handling being in his human form and wrapped in my duvet well enough. I just don’t know how he feels about the authorities thinking he’s my boyfriend and we were suddenly “interrupted”. The idea still makes my cheeks warm over pleasantly.
“No, it’s fine,” I say, rubbing my hands over my heavy coat sleeves. “He can borrow some of my friend’s clothes at the motel. His sister is letting me do the same.”
The officer nods then tells me she’ll call so I can pick up the rest of my things from the station later, after the crime scene has been investigated. God, that’s what it is now, isn’t it? No longer a home and not even a house. The intruder didn’t take anything tangible, but what they did was still precious. The sense of security.
“Miss Price?”
I rub at my burning eyes. The cop looks at me with a mix of pity and sadness.
“Get some rest, alright?”
I nod. Then I climb into the backseat of Mason’s truck because that’s the only thing I can do.
“Ready to go?” Mica asks softly.
“Yeah.”
The pickup pulls away from the property and coasts down the road. Maybe for my sake; I’m not sure. All I know is Nana’s house will never be the same.
A gentle heat ghosts over my skin then intertwines with my fingers. Ignis. I squeeze his hand in thanks until Mason clears his throat and glances at me through the rearview mirror.
“What we heard over the phone,” he says, “that was all true?”
Ignis raises his free hand, being careful of the duvet, and snaps his fingers. A small flame ignites from the action and burns for a few long seconds before dissipating.
“It is.”
“Right,” Mason sighs, dragging a hand over his face. “Of course…”
“Being in that form isn’t uncomfortable, is it?” Mica hedges, looking back at us. “We don’t know how people in town will react to what you really look like, so...”
“This appearance is something I personally made,” Ignis says. “Maintaining it is simple. You have nothing to worry about.”
Mica looks relieved by his answer, but it just leaves me feeling curious.
“Mind if I ask how you made this form?”
Ignis’ features soften and his gaze grows distant.
“One of the many possessors of my flask was a gladiator, raised in the Roman Empire. He suggested my name and was the first human to treat me as an equal; a friend. When he was killed in combat and I was taken away, I chose to use his appearance as the basis for this form. But I never thought I’d put my it to use.”
Mica’s sputter quickly dispels the nostalgic air.
“I-I’m sorry, but did you say the Roman Empire? As in Diocletian and Justinian? That Roman Empire?”
“Yes,” Ignis says, tilting his head. “Is there an issue?”
“No! No issue,” she says with a growing grin. “It’s just that, well…”
Mica’s practically vibrating in her seat. She’s always been a huge history nerd and the interest grew until she decided to nurture it in college then graduate school. So it wasn’t surprising when she decided to turn her love of history into a degree. I snort, trying to stifle my laugh, but fail.
“You’re basically a piece of living history,” I say. “In other words, she’s saying you’re old.”
Mica shakes her head, probably to the point of making herself dizzy.
“It’s not that your old, Ignis. It’s just that you’ve seen so much! Knowing what you are, if you were around for the gladiator games, then maybe you were around for the founding of the Roman Empire itself.”
She hops in her seat, back straightening. “Oh! Or maybe even before then? How long were you in Europe? Were you always in Europe? Were you present during the Hadean Eon?”
“In English?” Mason groans out.
“When Earth was a literal roiling firestorm before rocks were a thing,” Mica says. “Anyway!”
Mica keeps asking Ignis questions and surprisingly, he answers them all in a calm and patient tone. He even chuckles when she goes off on a tangent and attempts to guess what time periods he’s witnessed. Mason soon joins in, reminding Mica that everyone in the truck doesn’t speak “fluent geek”. That leads to the twins falling into a spat that makes Ignis laugh deep from his belly. It’s an unforgettable sound just like this moment. Seeing the people I love like this is enough to make me happy.
…Love, huh? When did Ignis become a part of that special group?
“Simone?”
Ignis gently squeezes my hand while looking down at me with ruby-red eyes. For reasons that are slowly becoming clearer, my cheeks warm over.
“Are you alright?” he asks.
Mica laughs as Mason trips over a complex word before deciding to focus solely on the road. But there’s a small smile on his face, despite his embarrassment. That’s why it’s easy to nod sincerely.
“Yeah. I’m good.”
The rest of the trip to the motel is filled with laughter, grins, and the warmth of Ignis’ hand encasing mine. We pull into the empty, silent parking lot and quickly guide Ignis into the twins’ hotel room. Or at least, it would be if it didn’t have just one bed. Mason heads towards his suitcase with Ignis in tow while Mica plops into a chair beside the heating system. She sighs contentedly, peeling off her thick gloves.
“Is your room nearby?” I ask.
“Yup, and with a second bed. Mason and I thought it’d be a good idea just in case...”
Mica’s words trails off, obviously not wanting to bring up the past few hours. She glances over her shoulder and I give her a smile.
“Thanks for looking out for me,” I say, then feel my smile falter. “Mind doing it again after I call Dad?”
“Not at all! But, uh, how are you going to explain…”
Mica gestures to a confused Ignis holding a small pile of clothes being ushered into the bathroom by Mason. The door closes with a loud creak and a soft click.
“Dad knows about Ignis, so lying isn’t necessary,” I say, sitting on the foot of Mason’s bed.
“So Ignis is the reason why your Dad and Nana became estranged?”
I nod. “He didn’t want me to have Nana’s house in the first place.” My fingers bunch the thin, white blanket beneath me. “What if he won’t hear Ignis out? I refuse to leave Ignis by himself, but I don’t want to sacrifice my relationship with Dad, either…”
The bed dips beside me and a gentle weight nudges my shoulder.
“I don’t think it’ll come to that,” Mica says. “But the best way to ensure that is to make sure they hold an honest conversation. Ignis already proved he’s able to do that and your Dad is too. As long as you’re there, they’ll have a reason to reach common ground.”
When I don’t reply, Mica nudges my shoulder again.
“You’ll see.”
The bathroom creaks open slowly and she grins wide, expectant. “Speaking of.”
But it’s Mason who steps out instead, blocking us from seeing the end result inside. My eyebrows knit together at his stiff movements.
“Something wrong?” I ask.
“Mica,” he says, “You…got money on hand, right?”
“Uh, yeah. Why do you—”
A loud rip sounds from inside the bathroom.
“…My apologies,” Ignis says. “The fit was too tight.”
Laughter bursts from my gut and I end up slipping off the bed and landing on my ass. The pain’s not enough to stop me. Mica’s close to tears from cackling so hard. And poor Mason’s left exasperated as he steps back into the bathroom and closes the door.
When we finally calm down and figure out Ignis and Mason’s sleep arrangements, I head out with Mica and my duvet. I collapse in bed with a grin on my face. And in that moment, I know things will work out, one way or another.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The smell of bacon and hash browns rouses me and makes my stomach grumble. Loudly. I sit up with a groan, uncaring of how Mica’s borrowed sleepshirt falls off my shoulders. I only care when someone clears their throat.
Ignis stares down at me with an amused smirk, still in human form. Wearing clothes that fit his tall, broad frame deliciously. The white shirt hidden underneath his black, leather jacket gives just a hint of the musculature of his torso. And god, his jeans. Not too loose or tight, but just enough to compliment his legs. Probably his ass, too. I can’t really tell from this angle, sadly.
“See something you like?” he asks, his voice a deep rumble.
The sound warms me in places I’ve ignored for the longest of time because of grad school. So having this happen right now with dried, flaking drool on the corner of my mouth and my natural curls being a hot mess…isn’t ideal. At all. I swipe at my mouth with my hand and adjust the sleepshirt as best I can. The old fabric just slips back into place, leaving my shoulders exposed. And open to a soothing heat that flows over my skin.
Ignis rolls one of my curls between his clawed finger and thumb with a teasing smile.
“I must say Simone, you look rather charming like this.” His fingers skim my shoulder, making me shiver. “But I wonder how you’d look completely debauched.”
Holy fu—
The room door opens without warning. I’m left staring at the place Ignis once stood, my mouth wide open and cheeks aflame. He, meanwhile, has somehow taken a seat at the nearby round table with a bag smelling like breakfast neatly set in the center by a bottle of orange juice.
“Simone?” Mica asks, wearing her coat and looking ready for the day. “You okay?”
Ignis just left me looking like a fool. Again. But in a very different way. I shift around a bit in a horrible attempt to curb my libido and clear my throat.
“Y-yeah. Still kind of tired, that’s all.”
Mica doesn’t say a word. She just smiles. Knowingly.
“Since I had to repay Mason for his ruined clothes, I thought it’d be best to get Ignis some much needed clothes.”
“Thank you again for your aid, Mica,” the bane of my single existence replies. “You’re too kind.”
“Not a problem! Do you mind helping Mason load the pickup truck?” She pulls out a brown bag from behind her back. “I still need to eat breakfast.”
“Of course.”
But before he leaves, Ignis’ gaze slides over to me, well over Mica’s head. It pins me in place until he closes the motel room door with a soft click. Mica takes Ignis’ old seat, unwraps her breakfast sandwich, and takes a bite while staring at me.
“So,” she says, “How was your wakeup call?”
“Mica, what the fuck?”
I wince against the sharp hoarseness of my voice. Mica just wipes her mouth with a thin napkin.
“What? I just asked Ignis to wake you up.” She grins mischievously. “I didn’t tell him how, though. Whatever he did, that was all him. But by the looks of things, I’m guessing you enjoyed it?”
Instead of replying, I throw the covers off, jump from the bed, and hurry into the bathroom. I start the shower and end up being sprayed with horrifically cold-ass water. I shriek and hear Mica cackle from the other room.
“Don’t think I didn’t see you two being sweet in the truck last night!” she yells above the loud spray.
Once I’m cleaned, clothed, and no longer horny, I go to town on my breakfast sandwich and orange juice. Blessedly, Mica stays quiet until I’m done.
“What time is it?” I ask.
“Almost ten. I thought it’d be best to get you ready and have Ignis cheer you up before your Dad comes.”
Right. The phone call. During all the silliness and Ignis acting like that, I had almost forgotten. Almost. Mica slides my phone across the table. According to the battery icon in the upper corner, it’s fully charged. She must’ve taken care of that for me last night.
“You know I got your back, right?” she asks. “So does Mason and Ignis, too.”
Having the twins’ support me does make me feel better. But when I imagine Ignis alongside of them, I can’t stop the warmth that floods my cheeks. And I don’t want to. I take a deep breath, pick it my phone, and dial Dad’s number.
“Hello?”
“Hey Dad.”
“Morning sweetheart! How are things over there?”
I brace myself then tell him everything. About getting to know Ignis, the attempted robbery, how he saved me and then me him. By the time I’m done, Dad’s gone completely silent.
Until, “Were you hurt? Are you safe?”
“Yeah, Ignis protected me. I…I think he almost died doing it.”
Another long silence.
“I’m coming down there.” His tone leaves no room for argument. “Stay with Mica and Mason until then, alright?”
I agree and don’t mention Ignis again; his voice already sounds tight and on edge. He ends the call and my body releases the tension it was hoarding.
“How was it?” Mica asks.
“We’ve got about two hours before he arrives at the motel.”
Mica’s mouth twists into a crooked, near frown. But she soon she perks up with a bright smile.
“Then let’s make the most of it. This town has a fun place to check out.” She stands up and holds out her hand towards me. “You in?”
I realize what she’s offering: a distraction. It’s exactly what I need, at least before the shit hits the fan. So I grab her hand and stand up.
“Let’s go.”
We meet Mason and Ignis outside, walking up to them just as they finish up their conversation. A calm one at that. Which is weird since Mason didn’t want anything to do with Ignis when they first met.
I explain the situation and the countdown until Dad arrives. Mason’s quick to agree, citing that Mica has extra money to blow (she smacks him for that). But Ignis looks completely out of his element, nothing like how he appeared in the motel room.
“What is a ‘arcade’?”
The twins and I grin.
We pull into the Comicade’s parking lot and head inside. Some of the distrusting looks of the adult customers fall away once Ignis steps into view, turning into curiosity and unashamed appreciation. I ignore the sourness building in my gut, accept the quarters Mica offers me, and make a beeline towards the Tetris machine.
I’m doing well, fitting the tetrominos in place with only a few incomplete lines at the bottom of the screen. They start piling up after I hear a too many flirty giggles. But they fall silent when a large, too-warm hand slowly glides across my lower back and rests on my hip.
“What sort of game is this?” Ignis asks, his hot breath ghosting the shell of my ear.
“T-Tetris. It’s a tile puzzle.” My voice sounds too strained for my liking.
“I see. Interesting.”
Ignis pulls away and I find myself missing his warmth. To the point that my body leans back to follow after him. But a familiar sound makes me freeze: the ‘Game Over’ tune. A soft chuckle sends a rush of frustration through me, in both senses of the word.
Thankfully, the rest of our time at the arcade is relatively calm. The twins and I manage to win a large amount of arcade tickets, but hand them off to a group of appreciative kids. At a quarter ‘til one, we decide to drive back to the motel. But before I’m able to follow Mica and Ignis out the door, Mason taps me on the shoulder.
“Can we talk?”
The bags under his eyes are somewhat darker and his expression screams defeat. It’s hard to look at him like this, which is why I agree. He calls out to Mica and, after a quick warning, tosses his keys at her when she faces him.
“Mind going on ahead?” he asks.
They hold a quick, silent conversation and Mica nods, leading Ignis outside. Once they’re gone, he leads me over to an empty corner of the arcade with stiff steps, his hands stuffed into his coat pockets. I’m about to ask what’s wrong, but he holds up a hand and shakes his head.
“If I don’t say this now, I probably never will.” He takes a deep breath and focuses on me. “I’ve been seeing you more as a friend for a while now. And that’s why I’ve been acting like, well, this.”
Mason pauses and gathers his dreadlocks in his hands, just to have something to do; one of his nervous tells. He lets go and they fall down.
“It’s also why Mica got on my case a few days ago. Because I should’ve said something before someone else did. But I’m too late.”
He gives me a sad smile then shrugs.
“Ignis may be what he is, but he seems to really care for you. Like you do for him. So as long as you’re happy, I’m happy too.”
I sniff and rub at my eyes to stop the tears from falling. But they come anyway. I haven’t seen this Mason, the gruff but sincere guy I’ve known for the longest, in a while. The Mason I went to when I’m tackling something Mica may not be able to help with. I’m so stupidly happy to have him back, that I’m not surprised when my laughter comes out watery, but light.
“You dork,” I say. “You know I’ll always be your friend, right?”
Mason chuckles then wraps me in a hug, rocking me back and forth. Like he used to do when we were kids.
“Yeah, I know.”
After splashing my face with cold water in the restroom, we leave the arcade for his truck and climb inside with the others. Mason sits in the driver’s seat while I claim the empty seat behind him. Beside Ignis.
“Everything alright?” Mica asks.
I meet Mason’s gaze in the rearview mirror and smile.
“Yeah, we’re good.”
My smartphone starts to vibrate and I pluck it out of from my coat pocket. The screen displays ‘Dad’ in bold, white print. I answer the call with a swipe of my thumb and let Dad know we’re on our way.
Mason drives us back to the motel and I see a familiar, dark blue hatchback in the parking lot. When we park a few spaces away from it, Dad steps out and locks his car. He waves at the twins just as his eyes settle on the backseat. His gaze hardens when he sees Ignis. And in turn, Ignis tenses. But he relaxes when I reach over and twine my fingers with his.
“We’ll be okay,” I tell him. “Promise.”
Ignis squeezes my hand back and looks down at me. He gives me a warm, closed-mouth smile then unlocks the door on his side.
We climb out, Ignis carefully helping me step onto the ground with our hands connected. Dad watches us without saying a word, keeping his eyes trained on Ignis the whole time. To keep the fragile peace, I let go of him to take the lead. As I walk closer, the hard lines of Dad’s face soften and he opens his arms for me. My forehead bumps into the top of his shoulder as his arms squeeze me tightly.
“Thank goodness you’re safe,” he breathes against my hair.
He hugs me a bit closer and I almost feel like a little girl again.
“Like I said before, I had help.”
As I step out of Dad’s embrace, Ignis comes to stand beside me with a neutral expression. Even though Ignis is about half a head taller and broader than him, Dad isn’t affected by their differences.
“You must be Ignis,” he says.
Ignis replies with a slow nod that looks too tense to be comfortable. Having them reach common ground is possible; I just have to think and act carefully.
“Dad.” I reach out touch his arm. “Can we all talk somewhere in private?”
Thankfully, he agrees. But his distrustful expression makes me gnaw at my bottom lip, even after Mica attempts to run interference by offering the key to her hotel room. I’m scared what I say won’t matter in the end since Dad has voiced his dislike of Ignis since day one. But I have to try. Because I don’t want to choose between two of the most important people to me.
So, I steel myself when Mica leaves the motel room and Dad closes the door. He walks over to the table, takes a seat, and gestures for Ignis to take the remaining chair. That leaves me with the edge of my made bed, where I take off my coat.
“Simone,” Dad says, his voice adamant.
“Yes, sir?”
“You already told me what happened back at the house,” he says, crossing his arms. “But I want to hear it from him.”
My stomach flips; this isn’t what I planned at all. Ignis settles further into his chair and clears his throat.
“Then would you mind,” he begins, “if I told you my full story? Including what led us all here to this moment?”
“Go right ahead.”
Ignis does. He starts at the beginning, with how he was the cause of his own capture. How he was exchanged numerous times over the years for gold. How his one human friend died as a gladiator and how he found himself in early America. Then, how he met Nana.
“Abigail showed fearlessness and compassion when she encountered me in the woods that day,” Ignis says. “Even after all my attempts to scare her away. It was those traits, and her resourcefulness, which made me fall in love with her.”
Dad’s eyes widen at that last statement, but he quickly schools his expression.
“So what went wrong?”
“Me,” Ignis says, bowing his head. “I let my anger and jealousy overcome me, and became a genuine threat to this town. I threatened to burn it and its inhabitants to the ground because Abigail loved another. She upheld the common good by sealing me away that day. If I were to spend the rest of time trapped there, it would have been a just punishment.”
Ignis’ gaze warms over and he smiles.
“But Simone arrived and broke down my barriers with patience and understanding. It’s due to her that I felt like myself, like an equal, even during the last days of my imprisonment. So is it surprising, that when she was in danger, I used every bit of my power to save her?”
Dad rubs his temples and lets out a silent sigh, frowning.
“I will be forever grateful that you saved Simone,” he says. “But with all due respect, why should I trust you, especially with my daughter? You threatened to incinerate an entire town full of innocent people. All because you didn’t get what you want.”
Every part of me is screaming to do something, to get up and defend Ignis, to try and explain our time back at Nana’s house.
“You’re right,” Ignis says.
His head is raised and his whole demeanor is completely calm with no trace of rigidness in his body. He meets Dad’s stare head on.
“Even before my capture, I only cared about myself and my own interests. That didn’t change while I was trapped in the flask. And as much as I came to care for Abigail, I fell back into my old habits and lashed out for my own personal gain.”
His eyes find mine and he gives me a gentle smile, one that makes my heart pound.
“But if given the chance, I will prove myself a thousand times over. All for Simone.”
I let out the breath my lungs hold in a quiet rush and take in more air. The action somewhat snaps me out of my daze. Dad’s long sigh clears away the last of it.
“Fine,” he says. “I’ll give you a chance.”
Dad stands and pushes his chair under the table. He starts heading for the door, but pauses to clap his hand onto Ignis’ shoulder.
“But if you screw up, I will find a way to extinguish you. Permanently.”
“There’s no need,” Ignis says. “If I do waste my opportunity, I’ll gladly do it myself.”
After a tense moment, Dad nods. Then, he turns my way.
“I’ll book a room so that when the station calls, you won’t have to collect your things by yourself. And Ignis is coming along too, correct?”
Ignis’ stunned expression falls away. He smiles.
“Of course.”
Satisfied, Dad heads out and closes the door with a soft click. I flop onto my bed, grunting as my back hits the fresh covers.
“So glad that worked out,” I murmur.
“As am I,” Ignis says.
I pause. Because his voice sounds much closer than expected. I shimmy up into a slight crunch then prop myself up on my elbows. He’s standing at the foot of the bed with a teasing smirk stretching his lips. The same one from earlier, in fact. Molten heat pools in my lower belly as his eyes roam over my body.
“You look like you’ve got something planned,” I say with a smirk of my own.
“Only if you agree to it.”
Before I can answer, my phone buzzes. And I can’t stop the laugh that bubbles up because of Mica’s text.
“Intercepted your Dad after he checked in and invited him to lunch with us. I’ll bring back food, you’re welcome, and give me details later.”
I toss my phone onto Mica’s bed and grin up at Ignis.
“Since we’ve got time,” I say, shedding my winter boots, “you should finish what you started.”
His ruby red eyes flash as he removes his leather jacket.
“Gladly.”

OKAY SO. This is another repost, but also heacanons I have created with my friend a while ago about fan-children for Noctis. Regis is someone that can fit with any couple really. Benjamin and Elizabeth tho is exclusive with Ignis because they were created in a verse where he got with Noctis. This headcanon is opened ended cause I am open to created specific verse children with certain muses. I just never had the chance/opportunity to do so. In any case. Just wanted this posted here so it can be referenced to ~
Tumblr media
                                                 CHILDREN
Appearance &  Personality
Regis is casual when it comes to his look. His hairstyle is like his father’s when he was a child. As for his clothing, he can be found wearing the same old black pants or jeans. His tops consist of T-shirts most of the time, but sometimes he tries to look more royal by wearing a lot of dress shirts and pants.
Regis is known to be a shy, quite little boy, but he does have an iron will, especially with how much he has gone through and he remains to stand tall. More so when he was younger, Reigs always carried around a stuffed plushie of the star Luma that was passed down from his father. Now, it just stays in the room, but sometimes he still carries it with him. It is obvious that Regis is a huge daddy’s boy, just like Noctis was. Regis can also never, ever lie. Not just to his daddy, but to people in general, he would have too much guilt if he did so.
Background
His background can go two ways. If he gets with a female, his significant other will get pregnant near the time Noctis gets encased in the crystal. So Noctis misses the first ten years of his life. If he gets with a male,(or perhaps a female who can’t conceive) Regis will be a gift from Bahamut, also given to his lover during the time he is in the crystal. Upon Noctis’ death, Bahamut praised him for his worthy sacrifice and all he had done for Eos. So, he offered a gift for him and his loved one, a child. He is made from the light combined with parts of his lover and Noctis intertwined. Noctis overjoyed, held the baby in his arms, knowing it could only be for but a moment. He thanked the Gods and the baby was brought over to his lover. Though he grow up without Noctis, he felt his presence all the time when he was young and spoke with him often and because of his attachment to him, when Noctis comes back to life(AU of course), a few years after his sacrifice, Regis is a real daddy’s boy/really clingy to him.
Appearance &  Personality
Benjamin takes pride in his kempt appearance. He wears vests or dress shirts, to appear proper, same as his Ignis. Big green eyes accompanied with short black hair. Nothing too special about his appearance. The only other feature is his glasses and he has a British accent.
Ben is a total sweetheart and a big chatterbox. He loves sharing his ideas and thoughts with others, talking nonstop is what he is known for, he is unware that he does it a bit, too much. Always showing kindness to others, he gets along with everyone rather well. Though he seems to push a few buttons with his oblivious nature, he is adored by many. He is also quite intelligent and is proficient in many things, such as cooking, just as his Ignis. When he is older he wishes to open his own bakery, and sell his sweets to the whole world. Benjamin is also really sensitive, if someone raises their voice even slightly to him, he gets choked up. He hates to disappoint others and just wishes to spread smiles on people’s faces.
Appearance &  Personality
Elizabeth’s beauty is breathtaking without a doubt. She had a similar presence to that of a Japanese Geisha. Skin was fair, lips red and plump, and her eyes shined like emeralds. Most of the time she worth outfits like Japanese style. Whether it be a kimono or just a simple dress. She loved to accessorize. She also wears glasses and has a British accent as well.
Elizabeth is reserved person much like Ignis. She speaks bluntly of the truth, but never about herself. She is quite intelligent as well and loves to strategize. You could find her reading in her room or sowing. She loves to design. Her biggest passion though is helping people. She dreams of being a doctor, and her solemn vow was to become one so that she could help Noctis.
Background
Elizabeth and Benjamin are fraternal twins and grew up as orphans. Noctis and Ignis adopt them. During the time Noctis is in the crystal, Ignis knows Noctis’ loves for kids and his dream of having a big family, so he adopts these twins at the age of two and raises them along with Regis. Despite not growing up with Noctis, they love him dearly and get attached to him quickly when meeting him when he returns to Eos for a short period. Of course when he is gone Ignis continues to tell stories of Noctis to his children so they never forget him. These kids are specifically for a ignoct verse because these children were created more based on Ignis/for Ignis.

First date Promptis requested by  @kirishwima
I hope this is ok :)
"Can I go now?" Noctis asks Ignis who was finishing fixing up Noctis' outfit.
He was casual today, black ripped jeans, white shirt and his Behemoth leather jacket and black converse. Probably shouldn't have picked white for a date but it was too late to change now.
"...Did you have to wear those jeans?" Ignis sighs.
"Specs, I'm taking him to a tiny diner not a restaurant. It's not claustrophobic and it's quiet enough so he won't feel like people are staring at him."
"The one your father recommended?" Ignis asks, earning a nod from Noctis.
"Near the arcade? Yeah."
"He took Queen Aulea there a long time ago." Ignis mutters. "I think it was their first date location too."
"Do you think Prompto will like it?"
"I think so." Ignis replies, grabbing the car keys. "We should get going. Before he panics."
"...We?...Could...Could I maybe drive there alone?" Noctis asks, resisting the urge to scratch at his freshly gelled hair.
"I suppose so." Ignis sighs, giving  him the car keys. "Just stick to the speed limit. Don't make Prompto nauseous and don't scare him with your driving."
Noctis huffs and pockets the keys.
"I'm not gonna scare him. I'll be careful."
Ignis stops him before he leaves, handing Noctis a bunch of sunflowers which Noctis can't help but smile over.
* * *
He had sped a little to reach Prompto's place just so he didn't cause the blonde too much anxiety and due to the fact he's nervous himself.
Noctis swallows and carefully gets out of the car. He winces as he accidentally slams the door before making his way to Prompto's front door.
Noctis raises his hand to knock but Prompto opens the door before he gets the chance to. He looks nervous but cute.
Blue jeans, red shirt, black boots and a little jacket with some skull and chocobo patches on it. Same chocobo styled hair as usual Noctis loves if he's honest.
Noctis in his awkward glory instead of complimenting him just shoves the sunflowers at him with a crimson face.
Prompto blinks for a moment before looking at the flowers he's been given.
"Sunflowers?" he asks, with a smile on his face but complete confusion in his eyes. "Don't they usually go for roses in the movies?"
"...Yeah but you remind me of sunflowers." Noctis mutters and audibly gasps when Prompto plants a kiss on his cheek before quickly scurrying away to put them in a vase.
Noctis awkwardly stands there before placing his hand over his reddened cheek where Prompto kissed. He can't help the smile that crosses his lips.
"...You coming in dude?" Prompto asks.
"Y-Yeah!" Noctis stutters out before heading in. He finds Prompto fixing himself up using his front camera on his phone.
"...D-Do I look ok?" Prompto asks, earning a smile from Noctis.
"More than ok."
Prompto blushes and shuts off his phone, heading over to Noctis and grabbing his hand. He gives it a squeeze and he's anxious as hell Noctis knows this.
He hopes they'll both relax at some point.
* * *
"...Sooo where we going?" Prompto asks when they're back in the car. "I'm not under dressed right?"
"Nah. You're fine." Noctis replies, starting up the car. "You know near the arcade?"
"Yeah. There's a pizza place there." Prompto says.
"Before that."
"The mini diner thing? With the milkshakes?"
"Yep. Figured it'd be quiet." Noctis replies, driving away from Prompto's house.
"Y'know I've never been there." Prompto says, fiddling with his wristband. "Looks nice...Retro."
"Been there since my old man was a kid. He took mom there on their first date." Noctis smiles, turning the radio on low.
"That's kind of cute." Prompto admits. "So his majesty passed the idea down?"
"Yeah. I hope it's ok. It's no movie date or arcade date."
"I don't mind." Prompto bites his lip and smiles.
* * *
Noctis carefully grabs Prompto's hand and leads him to the tiny old diner. It's colour scheme is mostly cherry reds and whites.
Prompto let's go and opens the door for him with a nervous smile.
"You first." he mutters and Noctis notices he's shaking a little.
"It'll be ok." Noctis reassures, leading the way in. "...You want a back booth?"
Prompto nods.
"Can I go on the outside?"
"Sure. Can I touch you or is that a no go?" Noctis asks as he leads the way to the booth.
Prompto nods, grabs his hand and squeezes.
"It's grounding." he says quietly.
* * *
Both of them relax around the ten minute mark. Falling into casual conversation while sharing some fries and a milkshake.
"So how long?" Prompto asks.
"How long?"
"How long have you liked me?" Prompto replies, flashing him a soft smile. He blushes and his freckles stand out more, Noctis would kiss them if he had the confidence.
"A few years now." Noctis blushes. "Well since high school...Same for you?"
Prompto nods.
"I didn't think I had a chance if I'm honest." he admits before drinking some of the milkshake.
"Prom you're the only person I've had a crush on. I'd say that makes you pretty special."
Prompto leans against Noctis' side and blushes.
"Dude...You're gonna make me fall for you more. I'm already in deep here." he mutters, blushing.
"Maybe that was my plan all along. Make you fall deeper, we adopt a cat and dog and move in together. See what happens in the future." Noctis replies.
Prompto flicks a fry at him.
"Hey!" Noctis laughs.
"Who knew Insomnia's prince was such an evil mastermind. Using me for a fur baby."
"...It'd be ours."
"Dude...Just get me a dog and I'll move in with you now." he jokes with a smile, taking another sip.
"I swear you'll still be calling me dude on our wedding day." Noctis mutters before blushing the moment he realises what he said.
Prompto chokes on his milkshake and Noctis rubs his back, apologising over and over.
"...Wait you'd marry me?!" Prompto coughs.
"...Yeah? Is that bad?...I want you by my side forever...If you want me that is." Noctis mutters shyly.
Prompto blushes bright red and grabs Noctis' face, hands resting against his jaw.
"That's the nicest thing someone's ever said to me...Noct, you're gonna make me cry." Prompto mutters, eyes filling up.
"I mean every word."
Noctis grabs the menu and covers their faces with it and Prompto without hesitation kisses him.

Worthy Chapter 11: New Beginnings FFXV A/B/O Promnis
<Previous Chapter 10
“What should I wear?” Prompto asked with worry as he sat precariously balanced on the edge of his bed.
“Dude, what you normally wear,” Noct answered with a snort. “It’s not like you should wear a suit or anything.  You’re going on a picnic in the gardens.”
“I know, but what if he doesn’t think I look good?”
Noct pinched the bridge of his nose. “Seriously, I thought the whole purpose of you suggesting a picnic was because it was laid back!“
“Yeah but –” Prompto stalled out and squinted at Noct. “Ya know, you look like Ignis when you do that.”
“He’s been my advisor for like five hundred years, man. Of course, I copy his mannerisms.” Noct huffed. “You should see me in a council meeting. If I get mad, I look like a mini Iggy.”
Prompto burst out laughing at the image and flopped backwards on the bed. “Aw, buddy, I’m so screwed,” he announced nervously once his fit of giggles had died down.
“Why?!” Noct exclaimed. “He clearly likes you. What’s the issue?”
“That is the issue!  He likes me and what if – what if I’m not good enough for him,” Prompto stammered.
Noct raised his hands dramatically. “He bent several international diplomacy rules, sent you a glaive as a personal escort, left Lucis with intent to maim and destroy, and rescued you.  I don’t think you have anything to worry about.”
“No, I do! We didn’t know each other hardly at all, and we still don’t.  It’s only been two weeks since we escaped from snaky,” Prompto wailed. “What if he gets to know me and then realizes I’m not worth the trouble.”
“If you don’t pick something to wear in the next minute, I’m calling Ignis for help.”
Prompto squealed in terror and leapt off his bed.   Leave it to Noct to find the perfect motivation. He didn’t have many articles of clothing to dig through, so he grabbed what caught his eye first.  A nice pair of jeans and a light weight sweater completed his look. “There, how’s this?” he asked with wide eyes.
“Perfect – and Prompto?” Noct ventured as he waited for the omega’s full attention. “You’re worth it.  Don’t ever think differently.”
    --
“You are not going back to change shirts      again    , are you?” Gladio asked in disbelief.
“This one has a wrinkle,” Ignis offered as he breezed past his friend and back into his closet.
“You are going to run out of shirts if you keep this up,” the older alpha grumbled.
 “I heard that!”
“It’s a picnic, Iggy. You can handle a simple picnic right?”
“Of course I can!  I merely want the whole experience to be perfect for Prompto.”
“And a wrinkle in your shirt prevents this date from being perfect?”
“Astrals! Gladio dear six, this is a date isn’t it?” Ignis breathed as he walked out of the closet donning shirt number five.
“What did you think it was?”
“A picnic. A neutral gathering where we might get to know more about each other!” Ignis enthused as he started pacing. “I have no idea if he wants to be with me or not.  I don’t want him to feel obligated, since I helped him escape Niflheim.”
“Calm down, there. Stop overthinking things.  Go to this neutral gathering, as you call it, and have fun,” Gladio offered with a smile.
 “That’s far too easy, Gladio.”
“Yeah, it’s supposed to be easy like that.  Both parties eat, talk, maybe kiss.”
Gasping in realization, Ignis turned to Gladio. “Don’t let me forget to brush my teeth again.”
The shield couldn’t help but laugh. “You could always bring a bottle of mouthwash with you.”
“Oh, stop being silly.  They make pocket packs of breath strips for that sort of thing.” Ignis then began digging through his bedside table looking for said product.
Gladio wasn’t able to stop Ignis from changing his shirt a sixth time. He did manage to talk him out of attempting to bake a last minute cake.  Ignis was the type of person that needed something to occupy his mind if he was nervous.
The appointed time arrived, and Gladio stood up to give his friend a hug. “You’ll do great. Go have fun, and make your date laugh.”
Ignis groaned as he grabbed his jacket. “I don’t know if I’m able to be funny on command.”
“It’ll be fine. Just tell blondie funny Noct stories.  That always works when I’m trying to get Sana to laugh.”
“Is she still looking forward to moving here?” Ignis asked curiously.
“Yeah, she can’t wait.  She’s looking forward to having an official pack.”
“I’m hoping she and Prompto are able to make a connection. They are both omega’s after all.”
“She’s mentioned the same thing, so we will have to wait and see how it plays out.  Now stop getting distracted, and go pick up your omega!” Gladio announced as he shoved Ignis towards the door. “He’ll think you don’t like him if you’re late.”
The look of horror on Ignis face was comical.  He barely paused to lock his front door before sprinting down the corridor. “I’ll call you later,” he shouted as he disappeared into the stairwell.
Gladio shook his head in amusement.  It was fun to see Ignis so excited by something.  Taking out his phone, he texted Noct to see what takeout he wanted for      their     secret dinner date.  He knew he’d get the other half of the story from the prince.  There was no way Prompto wasn’t a nervous mess like Ignis. It just wasn’t possible!
    --
Adopting a normal pace once he determined he wouldn’t be late, Ignis tried not to worry about his date. It had been a couple of weeks since the dramatic rescue.  Prompto had taken a few days to recover from the ordeal. Ignis knew that mentally Prompto would need time, but at least physically he was on the mend.
Soliamare and Prompto had agreed on which guest suite they liked and had moved in a week ago.  The queen had been adjusting quite well, all things considered. Ardyn seemed to have taken a shine to the demure beta.  Anytime Ignis asked what he was up to, the reply involved plans with Soliamare. Ignis warned him not to start anything he didn’t have intentions of seeing through.  Ardyn had rolled his eyes at the advisor and assured him he meant well. Apparently the queen was happy to simply be in his company.
A soft grunt stopped his daydreaming, and Ignis turned around to seek out the source of the noise.  Nothing stood out as being odd, but he stayed still and continued to look around. It took a second to realize that the giant potted plant nearby had a person hiding behind it. Not wasting any time, Ignis summoned his daggers and approached cautiously.
A familiar voice called out to him urgently, “Ignis, it’s me.”
Frowning, Ignis moved closer to get a better look.  He was so confused; Nyx Ulric was standing before him holding a leaf in front of his face. “What are you doing?” he asked, dismissing his weapons.
“Hiding from Aranea!” he huffed. “Quiet, she’ll hear us talking and find me.”
“Nyx, she will most likely be able to locate you due to your scent.”
The beta looked stunned and moved to lean out and check the corridor. “Alpha’s can smell things like that, huh?”
“Yes, I’m afraid we can,” Ignis offered as he inhaled deeply. “She’s not harassing you, is she?” he asked carefully.  Aranea’s scent was also mixed with Nyx’s. She’d clearly attempted to mark him recently. “If she is behaving in an uncouth manner, we need to report this to Cor.”
“No! It’s not like that, Ignis,” Nyx frantically corrected. “She’s just really – intense.”
Unable to process what that meant, Ignis blinked slowly at the glaive. “Do you need my assistance with anything at this time?  Am I alright to leave you alone with your plant?”
Nyx nodded and slipped back into his original position.  Left to continue on his way, Ignis could only wonder what the rest of the day would hold for Nyx.  Aranea was a very forward alpha, and she’d made it obvious she wanted to be with the beta. It seemed Nyx may be having second thoughts.
Prompto’s suite soon appeared, and Ignis stopped thinking about his odd encounter.  Taking a deep breath, he approached the door and knocked. The sounds of muffled voices and something falling were the only indication of life.  The door remained closed and unanswered as Ignis stood and began to worry. Perhaps agreeing to go out in public with Prompto was too much for the omega.  They’d been able to hang out but always with other people Prompto trusted nearby.
Ignis had been very careful to ensure Prompto wouldn’t feel trapped or unsafe.  This time it was different. Prompto would be leaving the suite alone with Ignis.  Finally the door unlocked and opened to reveal Noct. “Hey, specs. Sorry, you need to come talk to him.”
Instantly, Ignis’ dreams of a pleasant afternoon in the citadel gardens were dashed. Prompto was too nervous to come out with him. “Very well, I suppose this is to be expected,” he added sadly.
“Huh?” Noct questioned. “Ignis, he thinks his outfit is stupid-looking. You need to talk him out of changing.”
Perking up at hearing he wasn’t being turned down, Ignis followed Noct towards Prompto’s room.  The omega shrieked when Noct pushed open the door. Ignis had stayed outside the room. He didn’t want to invade his privacy if he was unwanted.
“Noct!  What happened?  He didn’t leave, did he?!” Prompto wailed. “I ghost him for two weeks when he first texts me, and now I can’t even answer my front door!”
Ignis couldn’t be sure, but it sounded like Prompto was having a panic attack.  His breaths were labored, and he’d stopped talking. Noct calling for him confirmed his suspicions. Rushing into the room, Ignis saw Prompto slumped on the floor next to his bed.  He was gasping for air and trying to say something to Noct.
“I’m still here. There’s no need to worry,” Ignis offered as he gracefully sank to the floor next to Prompto.  Expecting the omega to shy away, Ignis was surprised when the younger man tackled him for a hug.
“Thank the six!” he breathed softly. “I thought I’d screwed this all up again.”
Ignis wrapped his arms around the shaking omega and pulled him close. “No, you’ve not screwed anything up. Not now nor in the past,” he replied. “Relax and focus on breathing.”
Prompto squeezed harder and buried his head in Ignis shoulder. “Thank you.”
Noct, who never liked public displays of affection, took the time to try and ruin the mood. “Specs, his outfit looks fine, right?”
Deciding to ignore the prince’s tactics, Ignis replied, “Prompto looks nice all the time.”  The blond in his arms giggled, and his breath tickled Ignis’ collarbone. “Would you still like to go the gardens?”
Prompto nodded but remained silent.  Waiting another few minutes for him to fully calm down, Ignis slowly released his grip.
Noct couldn’t help but groan at the display before him. “Are you both done being gross?”
“You don’t like cuddling with Gladio?” Prompto asked with wide eyes.
“Yeah, I like it, but not all the time.  When I turn twenty in another month our third pack mate will move in.  Gladio will get to smother them with cuddles whenever he wants.”
 “Third pack mate?”
“Sana. She’s an omega like you,” Noct supplied with little fanfare.
Ignis thought Prompto’s eyes were going to bulge out of his head at the news.  He looked over to Ignis with hope. “Is it true. She’s like me?”
“Yes, we are all hoping you both will get along.  Unfortunately, you can’t meet in person until Noct’s party.”
“Right, it’s a secret. I remember Gladio mentioning that.”
Prompto’s face flushed slightly at the memory, and Ignis wondered if he recalled everything he’d said that night.
“Ok, so back to the issue at hand,” Noct sighed. “You both look fine. Will you go have your picnic, already!”
Looking at the blond, Ignis waited for a reaction.  Prompto smiled brightly and stood up, “okay, I’m ready. Sorry for being so silly.”
“You’re not being silly,” Ignis corrected as he waited for Prompto to lead the way.  The three of them left the suite a moment later. Noct went the opposite way back to his apartments.  “Noct thinks he’s sneaky, but he’s terrible at it,” Ignis conceded once they were out of earshot.
“What’s his deal? He seemed like he was in a hurry,” Prompto asked quietly.
“He’s got a date with Gladio tonight, except he thinks none of us know about it.”
“But he said he didn’t like to cuddle, so why would he go on a date?”
“He enjoys certain things in private.  He’s not your typical teenager.”
“Oh,” Prompto mumbled. “Um – so I know we are going on a picnic, but where’s all the stuff?” he asked with a pout. “I didn’t eat, and we don’t even have a blanket.”
“I’ve had the citadel chef prepare us something for the occasion. We simply need to swing by the kitchens and retrieve it,” Ignis replied with a smile. “As far as the blanket, I’ve instructed the groundskeepers to clear us a space and leave one out for us.”
“Wow, that’s awesome,” Prompto enthused.  “Noct said you were doing something special.”
“I don’t normally abuse my position as Noct’s advisor, but I figured every once and awhile wouldn’t cause too much harm.”
This statement made Prompto grin widely. “So that means you like me.” The blush that instantly starting creeping up the blond’s neck meant he’d not wanted to blurt that out. “Uh, I guess, or I mean, I hope.”
Ignis raised his hand to stop Prompto from continuing, “I like you a lot.”
The omega released a breath and bumped shoulders with him. “Thank the six. I was so worried.  I didn’t want to be bothering you if you didn’t want to be around me.”
“Prompto, you are not bothering me.  Please believe me when I say I truly desire to be in your company.”
The poor omega’s blush deepened, and he ducked his head to try and hide it. “Okay,” he offered meekly, “and just so you know, I really like you too.”
Unable to stop the smile spreading across his face, Ignis felt relieved to hear his advances were welcomed.  What happened next really melted his heart.
Prompto was fidgeting and cleared his throat. “Ignis, do you think we could hold hands?”
Choosing to extend his arm as an answer, Ignis watched Prompto bounce excitedly before he linked hands.  They stayed like that even after Ignis retrieved their picnic basket from the kitchens. The walk to the gardens was quiet; it seemed they both were enjoying the calm of being alone together.
Once Prompto could see the blanket that had been left out for them he tugged Ignis along faster. “It was always too cold to have a picnic in Niflheim.”
Ignis thought for a moment. “Does that mean this will be your first one?”
Prompto nodded enthusiastically as he sat down, pulling Ignis with him. “Yeah, so I want it to be amazing.”
Ignis hoped he was able to deliver on Prompto’s request.  He didn’t picnic enough to know what was considered amazing.  However, the permanent smile on the omega’s face made him think he was doing something right.
Their meal consisted of small sandwiches and other finger foods.  Ignis made a mental note to personally thank the chef for a wonderfully prepared meal.  It had taken a lot of convincing on Gladio and Noct’s part to allow someone else to cook for them.  Gladio had driven the final nail when he mentioned Ignis might not be focused on Prompto if he was busy worrying about the food.
It seemed Gladio had a point, since he could barely dress himself for this date, let alone cook.  He supposed this was one of the few downfalls of being a perfectionist. Ignis hoped their date would go well, and he would be able to showcase his cooking skills at a later time.  Things were going smoothly, and Prompto was relaxing as the afternoon progressed.
The location Ignis had selected in the gardens was shaded and on a slight hill.  They had a view of the entire garden but the tree they were under offered privacy.  This was important; Ignis didn’t want the omega to be nervous. He still wasn’t sure how Prompto felt about other alphas.
Ignis didn’t have time to dwell on the topic when Prompto gasped suddenly.  Following the blonds line of sight revealed a tiny animal. One of the resident garden cats was trotting over.
“Does it bite?” Prompto asked in a hushed tone.
Ignis didn’t really know if the cat would bite. “Perhaps if you let him approach first, it would be best.”
The cat took up residence in Prompto’s lap after a few tentative sniffs.  It didn’t take long before animal started purring happily at the attention it was getting.  The omega clearly had a deep love for animals. A vision of a shared apartment with Prompto and a cat flooded his senses.  The desire to make this young man feel safe and happy was strong.
They spent another hour relaxing and talking about anything that came to mind.  Ignis learned Prompto liked photography but never had the nerve to go out alone and take pictures.  Vowing to change that circumstance, Ignis listened intently as Prompto told him all about the things he wanted to photograph.
When Prompto was finished, Ignis couldn’t help but say what he’d been thinking the whole time.  “I’d be more than happy to take you around if you wish to pursue your photography,” he offered humbly.
“Really?! That’d be so cool.  I never left the house much in Niflheim.  I didn’t want to get harassed, but if you’re with me, it’ll be different.”
Ignis had to bite his tongue. He desperately wanted to tell Prompto he’d be with him forever if he wished it.  The pull the omega had on him was undeniable. Ignis wondered if Prompto felt the same way. Deciding to be brave, he took a steadying breath and worked on how he wanted to phrase his question.
He didn’t get the chance. A noise in a nearby bush caused the cat in Prompto’s lap to perk up in curiosity.   A second later it had bolted over to investigate. Prompto seemed both disappointed and fascinated by the current turn of events.
A familiar scent soon wafted over and Ignis rolled his eyes. “Nyx, I told you she will smell you.”
“I know that!” the glaive hissed loudly.
“Who are you hiding from, Nyx?” Prompto asked with worry.
“Forgive me for being blunt, but he’s hiding from Aranea so she won’t bite him.”
Prompto’s eyes went wide. “Wha?  I thought you liked her, though,” he retorted, staring at the bush.
Nyx moved slightly so they could see him better. “I do, Prompto, but I’m not used to the attention.”
“Oh, so she is harassing you.  I understand that.”
The mood was starting to change, and Ignis racked his brain for what to say that might help the situation.  Nyx thankfully beat him to it.
“Hey, no, no. That’s not it at all, Prompto.  If she was really harassing me, I would report it to my superior officer, and they would work to make it stop,” Nyx corrected quickly. “When I say I’m not used to the attention, all I means is I’m not sure I’m ready for a mate.”
“Why not? Having a mate sounds really nice,” the blond hummed. “They are always there to support you and give you a hug if you are sad.  I think having a mate would be really cool.”
Nyx smiled at the response. “I agree with that, but I’m not sure Aranea has read the same guide book on having a mate.”
Ignis couldn’t help but snicker at the remark.  Alphas females were a mixed bag. Sometimes they displayed more beta like traits and other times they were like Aranea.  Bold, loud, and fully aware of what they want.
“Well, then tell her what you want,” Prompto added sincerely.
Nyx opened his mouth to reply but stopped.  It seemed Prompto’s simple statement had him thinking.  After a minute, he found his voice. “I think I might try that. She’s gotta catch me first though.”
As if on cue, a voice rang out from close by.  It was Aranea. She was calling for Nyx and using the nickname he obviously hated with a passion.  Cor had even started calling him Nyxie for fun.
“Thanks for the advice, Prompto. I’ll catch you guys later.” Nyx huffed as he crouched down and continued to scurry along the wall behind the bush.
Ignis waited to see if Aranea would grace them with her presence.  Her commanding figure soon glided into view. She waved and continued on the way Nyx had gone.
“How does she know where he’s going?” Prompto asked softly.
“She’s an alpha; she can smell other people’s scent profiles to track them.”
“Did you do that when you and Ardyn came to rescue me?”
“Ardyn suggested it, and I quite frankly thought he was crazy.” Pausing to remember the incident, Ignis was so grateful he’d been wrong. “However, as you have correctly guessed, I did locate your scent to follow that evening.”
“Alban tried to call me yesterday,” the omega added with a frown. “I got scared and didn’t answer the phone.”
“Did he try and call you back?  I can put a stop to that if you don’t want him to contact you.”
Prompto shook his head and smiled. “No, it’s alright.  He just left me a message, and he wasn’t angry at all. He wanted to make sure I was okay, and he --.”
Ignis could see Prompto was struggling with the next part of the story. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”
“No, it’s not that.  I didn’t realize me almost dying would make him worry.  He never seemed to care before.”
“I believe for the first time he may have been able to understand how you felt.  You both were targeted and nearly died. That can change a person.”
Nodding, Prompto sighed heavily.  Ignis could tell he was affected by the turn in conversation. He wished it was possible to take away his pain.  Prompto needed time, and Ignis hoped the omega would turn to him in the future for support.
“Thank you for helping me start a new life, Ignis. I don’t know what would have happened to me if you didn’t show up in my life.”
“I would like to remind you that us meeting was entirely your doing.  So do thank yourself for being brave enough to face the world in search of something better.” That statement finally brought back the bright smile Ignis was getting used to seeing.
“Um, I know it’s a little ways off, but do you want to go to Noct’s birthday gala with me?”
“I would be delighted to go with you.  However, I must apologize in advance, since I will be working at the same time,” Ignis lamented.
“Oh, that’s right! You organize the whole party and make sure it’s all running smoothly.  I don’t mind so long as I won’t get in your way.”
“I would love to have you with me, and for the brief moments when I must attend to something, I know that Gladio and Noct would keep you company.”
“Oh emm gee, this is the first party I’m actually excited to go to!” Prompto exclaimed.
“I suppose that means a visit to the royal tailor is in order,” Ignis announced calmly.
Prompto grinned and then held out hands as if he’d been struck by an idea. “My mum is gonna flip; she will get to wear a gown.  Can she come to the tailor, too?”
Ignis nodded and watched as the omega practically vibrated in place.  They had another month before Noct’s twentieth birthday, and Ignis already had ideas for their next date.  He’d been a little worried they might not go out again. Prompto asking to be his date at Noct’s party removed any last worries. Ignis was officially courting an omega and loving every minute of it.
